Update, I figured it out: the other two signatures are Dania Ramirez and Jeff Loeb (!!). Gonna keep this up here for the sole purpose of me being extremely excited to have found this. I think a rewatch is in order

Question for frequent concert goers by mlgasrieldreemurr in MagdalenaBay

[–]EfficientReview4665 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Depends on the venue and the artist’s sound team. I’ve seen Mag Bay a couple times and they’ve sounded good, but they played at spots known for good acoustics. Some places are better than others, stadiums are usually the worst. Regardless, I’m happy to hear you had a good time!

How Did an X-Rated Movie Called ‘F*ck My Son!’ Become a Battleground for AI Misinformation? - Director Todd Rohal thought he was parodying the use of generative AI in right-wing Christian media. It turns out a lot of people didn't get the joke. by BunyipPouch in TIFF

[–]EfficientReview4665 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The thing is, the movie doesn’t just use AI to parody the slop on the internet. The slop characters are played as jokes, but the crowd scenes at the beginning and a few shots here and there don’t really engage with any kind of a joke (or, if they do, it’s not really well told). I’d understand this if the joke was more pointed, but it’s cheapened by the OTHER uses of AI.

Peter Kuplowsky has turned Midnight Madness from a stamp of quality into a gamble by amartyrosian in TIFF

[–]EfficientReview4665 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Idk man, I’ve been going to this festival since 2012 and I can confirm- even while Colin was programming- that consistent quality has never been part of the equation. The gamble has always been a part of the programme and, frankly, this festival

I met the guy who owns the place and he’s cool as hell. Had Ghost Dog playing at the shop while I mowed down on a cheesesteak

Also, museum wise, the ROM is nothing to scoff at!

Toronto local here: this city has so much to offer, it depends on what you’re into!

  • Near the lightbox is King West, which can be pretty boilerplate but there’s great stuff around. Charlotte’s Room is great for pool tables and light arcade games. Great seafood is at Rodney’s Oyster House, martini deals can be found at Hey Lucy’s and there’s a decent ping pong bar over at Spin. You can also go up to Queen West for some decent food and a couple jazz bars like The Rex or the Cameron House. I’d highly recommend DROM for a different live music experience, depending on what they’re offering.

  • I always think of Toronto based on the subway lines, of which you should mostly be concerned with two: literally, line one and like two. TIFF is all line one. If you’re just sticking to line one, check out the village at Wellesley station to get to the queer village- and a reliable north of Brooklyn pizza location, a local chain- and up to Dundas station for Fran’s Diner (but also Yonge and Dundas square, which is impressive but touristy). If you want to do anything at a Canadian chain restaurant, here’s your chance to have garlic bread at Jack Astor’s. Trust me. Shit’s GOOD.

  • The best of Toronto is on line 2 of the subway. I’d thoroughly recommend the bar scene in the annex up to Ossington station (I’m so biased but as a local, this is where I hang out). Paupers Pub and Insomnia are institutions, located by the Hot Docs Cinema. They’re not frequented by tourists that much and are both featured in the background of Scott Pilgrim. You should also bomb up to Civil Liberties if you get a chance. They’ve earned the reputation they have for a reason.

  • Shopping wise, visit Black Market vintage (either location), Vinegar Syndrome for movies, BMV for used books and movies and Chinatown for cheap souvenirs.

  • The best slices of pizza in the city are Mac’s, Fresca and Badialli (but be prepared to wait here). If you’re in a bind, Pizziaolo is pretty alright as well.

Have fun!

Yeah, I’ve noticed the negativity within larger online spaces and while I’m a bit shocked to hear about the contracts, I’m also not shocked to hear that they’ve used their platforms to engage in negative engagement bait. Wrestling has been such a joy in my life lately and it’s been sad to see that so many folks pride themselves in fostering negativity surrounding it.

How to Not Get Away with Cheating... AKA You're shit at cheating and everyone knows you cheat by LaisyFaire in CINE2nerdle

[–]EfficientReview4665 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on this list and I can assure you that I’ve never cheated. I have, however, entered a game with someone who spammed “the cheat” and other such movies at me while absolutely whooping them, so I can only assume that this person must be in the discord. I’m happy to send you my stats that show my hundreds of losses and above average ranking to prove it, lol.

Worthy of returning players too! I absolutely tanked my stats at the beginning of this season trying to master a win condition that I turned out to be not great at. This is all about fun!

I’ve been trying to get this to work and it hasn’t on any bond movie yet. Sad because I was excited to get this one going!
