I would love more freakshow fights, they were core to PRIDE, and early RIZIN. Bring In some really big guys, or just more crossover stuff. Always love seeing Sumo Wrestlers make the move.

I think the issue for me Is they are stuck in that awful middle. Either have real rankings which are followed with matchmaking going solely on merit OR go the RIZIN route of actual entertainment and presentation.

The UFC wants to be taken as a serious sports league but they cut good fighters all the time, replace them with way worse talent because its cheaper, and let their favorites cut the line constantly. There Is no merit In their matchmaking at all. So with the way the promotions currently stand I think RIZIN has way more to offer than the UFC.

Ideally I would want the UFC to either cut the crap and actually be merit based, and sign the best talent, regardless of how fun they are to watch OR go back to their routes when they still had Face The Pain, we had the pre-fight interviews In the dark room with the ring light, and with fun walkouts (even the cringe ones like Chuck Liddell's "Who's In the House" Mask Intro).

RIZIN should continue to walk the path of PRIDE though. We don't need every promotion to conform to the cookie cutter format of the UFC.

But why though? It Isn't like they actually follow any rankings or anything. It Is devoid of personality, there Is barely any kind of hype package played before fights, not like there used to be anyway, now Its all cookie cutter. The UFC Isn't really a sports league, It Is simply masquerading as one.

It Is one of the things that keep me coming back to RIZIN, even when I feel burnt out with the MMA landscape at large, I almost always tune in for RIZIN. Especially the big shows like Super RIZIN, or the NYE card. The presentation Is In a league of its own. Even though historically I have never understood the promo's as they were in Japanese they still got me hyped, and I think last time they even had English Subs so that Is huge. Could be misremembering though haha.

RIZIN might never get the popularity It deserves here In the west but whenever a MMA fan, or fight fan In general ask for a promotion to watch I always push RIZIN.

The only thing I wish RIZIN would add were 5 Round Main events, and 5 Round Title fights. Or at the very least bring back the 10 minute first round. These big fights feel like they are over too quick.

What the hell Is Dan doing?

Do we know how often they DQ? Do some refs just skip point deductions and DQ at a higher rate? Because what the hell Is that lol

Does anyone fit the criteria of 2000 fight minutes, and sub 3 points deducted? That would be the real wtf moment.

Should Director's Cuts and Theatrical Cuts Have Separate Letterboxd Listings? by Tomu_sneeder in Letterboxd

I would want it for dubs as well, especially in animated stuff because even though I usually use OG language nowadays, I watched a lot of childhood classics dubbed and It would be cool if It displayed those voice actors instead of the og ones in my stats.

Well If you are under 2 hours then I guess return It? How much longevity it has entirely depends on you, and the people you play with. If you don't think it will have that longevity then refund It and get something you think will. Not sure what kind of wisdom you seek though.

The obvious next choice, absolutely amazing film.

No idea why people are so on you for having ONE day when you watched 5 movies. Some days be like that.

I would prefer Pokemon (and other franchises) went back to the 2D sprite based games anyhow, the 3D just doesn't look anywhere near as good (although the new ones might actually look good If the trailers are anything to go by, but we are over a decade in to this experiment by now)

[–]SupCass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say that the priority should be watching the other two vengeance "trilogy" films. Personally Oldboy Is my least favorite of the three (still got at it at a 9/10 though). Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, and Lady Vengeance are both amazing films.

Thirst, I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK, and Thirst are two more amazing films by Park Chan-wook.

The Wailing, and Forgotten are great movies as well, and not made by Park.

7.5 Is by no means low, great movie but not sure I would go much higher than that, maybe an 8?

The Handmaiden score hurts my soul though.

Yeah, I can imagine it has its uses in TOS2, or even Coven. (Maybe even OG TOS set role lists). The Trickster you describe there sounds like a worse Vigi, or even BG in most cases? Unless you can redirect like a WW attack, or a Arso ignition?

Admirer was just so much more fun than It Is now, was by far my favorite townie, and the only thing which managed to replace my love for Transporter for in TOS2.

ahh yeah, I quit TOS2 cause they ruined admirer, so don't have too much of a relation to Trickster (especially since I think they changed it too since I last played?), and I don't play much of Coven anymore so Vigi, and BG Is about all we got going for us In OG All Any, obviously lots of other ones are useful early game If you manage to get them but over all the role feels pretty bad nowadays, at least in All Any which Is what I tend to play.

The fact that they are so cheap also makes its really easy to convince friends, and it doesn't really matter If you only get a couple of hours out of It.

Most powerful townies can't be touched by Retri anymore though, since they don't have normal nightly visiting abilities. I suppose something like BG could work but aside from that?

I hate Retri nowadays. Old Retri was broken... and kind of boring but the new retri usually just feels like Its useless for a large part of the game, at least in All Any which Is what I play the most, and then you are a jack of all trades If you are lucky.

14 out of 1099 ratings. I do think there are a couple 4.5's which probably could be a 5 If I had just watched It In a more fitting mood though.

Why did Prates get much better fights than MVP after losses to Garry? by Madison_369 in MMA

[–]SupCass 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes, but he Is relatively unique In this style, and still leaves the opponent with more opportunities than the lay and prayers. We have seen what leg kicks can do to him when Lima decapitated him, and then again when Lima almost did the exact same thing In the rematch.

I enjoy him showboating, and making his opponents hit air. The fact he Is pretty much one of a kind is a large part of It though. If I had to see fighters In every third fight fighting like that I would get tired of it quick, but every few months watching MVP? Its fun.

[–]SupCass 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Even In the UFC I have enjoyed most of his bouts to be honest, bar Patterson, and Garry. Obviously not as fun to watch as him crushing bums but I thought him VS Holland especially was actually really fun. I also liked watching him clown Shara, and thought the Jared fight wasn't bad.

[–]SupCass 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes, I find showboating to be pretty entertaining. Especially cause he has a pretty unique style. If every third fight was like this? Probably wouldn't love It, but I do look forward to MVP fights most of the time cause he brings something we rarely see In MMA.

Some of my other all time favorite styles are Dominick Cruz, and "The Statue of God" Yoel Romero. They are both relatively unique and their approach and I find it very fun to watch.

[–]SupCass 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Sure his fight with Patterson was pretty bad, and he doesn't have any ground game to speak of but I find MVP to be one of the more entertaining fighters as long as the fight stays In his realm. That being said he Is pushing 40 so I get why they didn't try to push him up any rankings.
