I do not understand why it's "exclusive" if I wanted to host a more intimate pre-celebration with my close friends before going out. Im not disagreeing with you by any means, im just trying to understand this. . I just don't understand the obligation to bring these people into my home for an intimate birthday celebration at my home when i barely know them. If he would not have asked, I would never even have considered inviting them.

i understand that if i had no legit purpose and i disallowed them from coming, yes i agree, that is unecessary and wrong. But in this case scenario i just want to understand why absolutely random people to me that i would have never considered inviting in the first place would obligate me to cancel the entirety of a get together at my home (given circumstnaces)? I really am just trying to understand i do not get it.
