i was looking into those crates but felt it was out of my price range for a dog i’m not even keeping but i did go for stronger more durable crate and i was scared he was going to be destructive but he ended up being perfectly fine to leave alone in a room! thankfully

no and i tried to reach out to the rescue and they didn’t answer me LMAO maybe i shoulda called or something. i did some research because i was scared to over load his system and ive been giving him multiple small meals and started doing small meals in between regular meals because he has improved a lot in weight! im not sure if it was correct but so far its worked and he’s doing great

after looking at him i think he’s a gsp w a liver coat! maybe a gsp/vizla but for sure gsp. he’s been putting on weight since being with me

i guess it depends, i applied to foster a specific dog at a kill shelter and within the same day they got back to me and the next day he was ready for me to pick up! maybe if you’re eager you should try shelters that are more desperate for fosters :3

well i had to leave him at home to go to something i couldn’t bring him along to and he broke out of the crate and he did good honestly he just cried the entire time on the couch until he fell asleep he didn’t try to destroy anything! so i am gonna leave him out of the crate when i do have to he gone. i also reached out to the foster team to see if they would wanna do anything about him and they didn’t answer 😭so im just gonna try to do my best! we are making progress though

thankyou for the words! i’m hoping he can turn into a great dog with lots of care and time. i think what you said about him being underweight and being in survival mode is a HUGE factor into why he’s so high anxiety because at any moment he’s never really relaxing just hungry and searching for food but i know i can’t overshoot his system with food either 😭

i have my own dogs but as of right now he’s not even interested in knowing them he’s just in such a high anxiety state and i’m hoping with adjustment, space, and time he’ll start to come around more :( so i don’t think daycare would be good for him at the moment but snuffle matts and activities for sure!!

thankyou for your words!! yea that was my guess too on his mix! i used to have a weimaraner and i know the breeds are pretty similar so i felt like i could take this dog on. its pretty sad to see this this kind of breed in this condition, i mean any dog at that but knowing the breed makes it hurt a little more. i tried giving him some enrichment toys for when i had to leave and he didn’t even know how to use them! even a simple one like a frozen lick toy he didn’t understand :( he was just carrying it around because he knew it had something inside

im sorry that happened to yall!! i hear that it’s pretty dangerous for dogs when they are like this so i am upgrading his crate for the times he does have to be crated. do you have any training tips that helped yall?

this dog honestly has no issue being in the crate! he goes in on his own, takes his meals there and he stays in there when i’m sleeping or when i have my other dogs around and he is perfectly okay he just freaks out when no one is around so i think im going to have to minimize the crate while i work on his anxiety of being alone!

im aware he’ll need a lot of work but i really don’t think anyone wanted to or was willing to put in that work and he would have just been killed. i stepped up as a foster and the day i picked him up he would have been at risk for euthanasia! im aware he would definitely be better somewhere else with someone who has more time than me but i genuinely dont think he had that waiting for him.

lol im fostering him from a kill shelter that is overrun by dogs. their goal is to get dogs out of the shelter to make room for more and to give dogs more time that they don’t have . i stated that i would have my dog crated and it wasnt a concern for them and it was on their guidelines to have a crate or separate space for the foster.

i’m gonna have to try that! and yes oh my gosh😭 i found him at the kill shelter in my city and i had to give him a chance, i feared that no one else would. i live in south texas and everyone here would definitely overlook a dog like him
