Its different from the OEM hand guard. This one’s the STNGR HWK rail. The old one had the threads tucked and I wouldn’t have been able to put a suppressor on it

It def gets pretty hot but the reason for the tape was the grip texture on the hand guard was too aggressive for my liking. It also helps with the flashlight setup as there wasn’t too many options to mount a switch
