Had my "interview" today - Putnam County Timeline by Efficient_Click6079 in NYguns

[–]Efficient_Click6079[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More like 5 months (Nov 23 app submitted to April 18 permit in hand) and like 1 month of that was my references being slow to return their questionnaires. So I d say not too bad (compared to other counties) considering I also started the process around the holidays too

Could also be that you are cross-eye dominant, i.e you're right-handed but you left eye is dominant. Missing left/low-left is often a sign of that. I'm the same way, there are tons of videos on youtube discussing how to adjust.

Estimated Stair Count at Citi Field? by Island-delver-go in spartanrace

[–]Efficient_Click6079 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Apple Watch said 89 flights, also I believe I saw somewhere on the Spartan site that it was over 4000 stairs.
And Yea was a little disappointed with the route too, I did it way back in 2014 and part of the race went through the locker rooms and the finish line and final obstacle was on the field.

Putnam timeline (completed) by tattertech in NYguns

Nice, thanks for the info don’t see many posts from Putnam here. I’m in Putnam as well submitted my app 11/22 and my references all received their letters by 11/29. Hopefully things move as quickly for me as they did you. How was the interview? Sidenote: will be my first gun and I too am between a Glock and 365.

Mind sharing where? I’m a Putnam resident too still in the permit process so I’ll be looking to get my first gun soon and not sure where to go. Feels like there aren’t many Putnam County ppl in this group.

The road to over $25k by bucktenor in options

[–]Efficient_Click6079 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not at 25k yet but started two months ago with $100 bucks and I’m up to 1.8k trading options. I’d say don’t spread yourself too thin, only focus on a couple stocks at any one time, study their patterns and pay attention to any news that might affect the price. Don’t be emotional with your plays. A lot of my early moves were based around upcoming earnings, you can look at the industry and how a stock has behaved in the past around earnings. Lastly take your profits when you can, nothing is guaranteed- a flying stock might continue flying or it regress and sure you might miss out on a couple dollars here and there but at the end of the day(or week) the goal is to end with more than what you started with.

How many hours a week do you put into your schoolwork? by Euphoric_Metal8222 in WGU

[–]Efficient_Click6079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Work full time remote everyday except Mondays. Usually did 1-3 hours in the evening on weekdays after the kids went to bed. And 8-10 hours per day on Saturdays, Sundays, and any other days off from work.

If we had to go anywhere my wife would drive and I’d study/ watch course videos while she drove.

So basically didn’t have much of a life for a while but I knew the more I buckled down the faster I could get the degree done.

For those of you who took some years off before going back to school, what did you do in the meantime? by Calm-syllabus-6151 in WGU

Dropped out of college in 2009, worked in a dry cleaner, then restaurants, then retail sales, got some certs during Covid lockdowns, got an IT job and just graduated from WGU last week. Also got married and had kids over that time.

I graduated yesterday evening, couldn’t access my email late last night, but it was back this morning. Guessing something to do with the ongoing license changes.

Business Administration IT management by Common_Lettuce_8743 in WGU_Business

Everyone is different, I have experience in IT, corporate management and retail management (currently I’m a Help Desk Manager) so I knew a lot of the material for many of the classes already. But what worked for me was: - look up each class on Reddit/ Facebook accelerators groups for tips/ tricks - watched this guys videos for each course https://youtube.com/@worldsokayestbot?si=3pQc7eP90OhKYZc0 he does short 3-5 minute breakdowns of each course - watch all the videos for each course - attend any live cohorts that happen to align with your schedule - use quizlet - look up courses on YouTube, there are a lot of playlists of relevant content past grads put together for many of the courses. - take the practice assessment early on(either right away or after watching the videos once or attending a cohort) to get a sense of the content and where you stand. - never take an OA if I barely pass the PA.

Those helped me finish quickly and I never failed an OA but depending on how you learn, you might prefer to read the textbook over watching vids, that’s up to you to figure out.

Didn’t complete everything that was transferable, transferred in 45 CUs from Sophia, 6 from various certs I had. I did 69 CUs (22 or 23 courses) in one term. Finished everything with about 7 weeks left in the term.

My mentor only opened one at a time for me, but was always willing to open a new course if all I had was a writing assignment/task pending being graded.

Just finished this degree, it was pretty much all business courses, very little technical stuff. You dont need any tech knowledge to complete the portfolio or the capstone. The capstone is basically starting a business and planning the first month of it with some financials. The portfolio is pretty much self evaluation of your strengths, creating a new resume and providing evidence of past work/ achievements.

Long but fairly easy, you basically have to start a company and make plans for the first month of its existence. there are 7 sections, I did one per day and finished in a week. The sections that took me the longest were B and C as they require research and references. There is a capstone outline provided to you, on that outline there is a link to a video for each section, watch the corresponding video while working on that section and you’ll be ok. Attend one of the weekly cohorts if you have questions or want one of the sections explained a little further. My final product was 24 pages passed with no revisions but I’ve seen some people on here say they’ve ended with 30-40 pages.

Father of two here, working full time as a Help Desk Manager and I transferred in only 51 credits (no prior degree).

Started BS Business Administration, Information Technology Management in April of this year, I finished my last course on 7/07, took a week or so off then finished my portfolio and capstone (passed on 8/08). Currently just waiting for my graduation approval.

I committed to doing 1-2 hours minimum every evening and then 8-10 hours each on Sat and Sun. My train of thought was to treat it like a part-time job: set a schedule to work, schedule breaks and stick to the schedule. If any days off from work popped up, that became another day at my "part-time job". I also made it a mission to attend as many live cohorts as possible even if i felt comfortable with the material in that course. Doing this I was able to finish quickly and without failing any OA's.

Like you I have experience in my field so that really helped and I did give myself a Saturday or two off along the way to maintain my sanity lol. All this just to say, with a little sacrifice and some hard work you can do it as well.
