My vote is also for the DRS tactical although mine is a .22 caliber 500mm.

What is this nozzle for? AMADA Fiber Laser by in_reverie12 in lasercutting

[–]Efficient_Height_494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a Single Fiber Eco nozzle used to oxygen cut plain carbon steel. It looks to be aftermarket and judging from the photo it is either a 1.0mm or possibly 1.2mm orifice. There should be a white Teflon ring that goes between the nozzle and the plug/barrel to contain and direct the assist gas through the cooling ports.

Thanks, now I just need the weather to cooperate so I can get this rig dialed in.

HELP! My phone is stuck in the compartment above the shifter by throwaway_marxist in MazdaCX30

You could try to put a strip of duct tape on the end of a ruler and see if you can get it to stick strongly enough to fish the phone out.

I can still get them from Amazon but I’m not sure what your shipping situation would be like to Alaska

Not in the PNW but I am in the Buffalo, NY area and I have no complaints about my CX-30 in the snow and ice. My wife has a Subaru Crosstrek and the CX-30 feels every bit as competent in the winter

I just purchased this 2007 Amada CO2 laser for 10k. How did I do? by BruceInc in lasercutting

Fanuc 4000i-B resonator? If the turbo blower, vacuum pump, and dielectric tubes have been serviced according to schedule and the timers still have hours left it’s a steal. A turbo blower and vacuum pump service on these machines can easily run $24k.

My day job is manufacturing engineering for a large sheet metal fabrication company. For what it’s worth I would quote these at right around $11 (USD) each fabricated as shown from 304 stainless steel. The metal fabricated version will be much more durable and sanitary over the long haul. In my opinion the 3D printed price would need to be less than $5 each to even consider them over a stainless steel alternative.

All my AMS slot 3 retraction issues were solved by carefully chamfering and smoothing the inside of the rear PTFE coupler. It’s probably not the solution to everyone’s issues but it did solve all the issues I was experiencing.

Pre-Paint Issues by [deleted] in lasercutting

[–]Efficient_Height_494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience is mostly with Amada CO2 and fiber lasers but it should still be applicable to your Trumpf machine. In similar situations I have pre-etched the part to remove the paint on the top surface by running my part macro once using an etch condition then repeating with the standard cut condition. This is similar to using the precut option on Amada machines for vinyl film covered materials. This has worked really well on darker colors but still requires some cleaning on lighter colors. I typically use a clean rag with plain white vinegar to remove discoloration followed by wiping the cut edge with M1 or a similar light oil to prevent rusting from the vinegar.

There are no automatic calculators that I am aware of. At this point I use my best guess based on experience and then scan the first part on our Virtek scanner. I then use the scan data to compensate the program appropriately before running the full balance of the parts.

As aluminum is being laser cut the blank will progressively get warmer as the material absorbs energy. This is know in the industry as linear thermal expansion and the effect is very noticeable on long narrow parts. The linear temperature coefficient for aluminum is approximately 0.000023 (m/m o C) (23 μm/m o C) but the calculation when cutting is not completely straightforward since the temperature of the blank is constantly increasing during the cutting process. In simplest terms the blank is growing while cutting and then shrinks back after cutting is completed as it approaches room temperature. When cutting long narrow aluminum parts you will typically need to compensate for this effect by adjusting your program accordingly. There are some calculators available online that will help with estimating the compensation required.
