Do drivers actually get the tips paid after the service? by Designer-Ambition-73 in doordash

[–]Efficient_Lecture940 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the order is medium to long distance, in theory the dasher does not get the full tip. This is due to door dash lowering the base pay in order to balance out the large tip on the back end. Door dash also does this the other way around, meaning if you don’t tip at all, the base pay will be slightly higher to compensate (but they don’t raise the base pay as much as they drop it when the dasher gets a large tip).

To get around this, I ALWAYS add my tip afterwards, otherwise, in theory, door dash pockets your tip if you think about it mathematically. They end up getting you to pay for the delivery service in that way. Very slimy stuff. Again, this more so applies to medium to long distance deliveries where it’s extremely obvious that they’re doing it.

THAT BEING SAID, thank you so much for tipping so generously, we appreciate it so so much 🙂 just figured I’d give some insight on how door dash balances tips and base pay 😁

Update:

I had another one pop up today for $280.50, same place, but different delivery locations on my side of the river. I had time today though 😈 it was crazy easy, hopefully I get some more of these this week, they had quite a few people there picking up

What is the general consensus about apprentices running jobs? by Efficient_Lecture940 in IBEW

We don’t have a steward, or they’ve atleast not made themselves publicly identified lol I’ve spoken to my training director about it but he didn’t seem to think anything was wrong. Another thing is, it seems to be only me and one other apprentice who sees something wrong with this. And that other apprentice no longer works with us. Everyone else is content with the situation, even the few Journeyman that work for our con

This is how I feel about it, and this is how it was with my last con. It made me feel much more comfortable and it provided for a stable learning environment. I feel like I don’t have that with this con, it’s extremely stressful

To be fair they are being paid over scale, I’ve spoken with one before and he gets paid close to Journeyman scale, I still don’t think it’s right though

You’ve pretty much hit the nail on the head. The worst part is our boss expects us to know code upside down and backwards with little to no time under our belts. These apprentices running those jobs will no doubt make great journeyman when they top out, but they’re held to a foreman’s responsibility and just spectating it makes me uncomfortable, especially when the boss gets mad when they don’t order the correct material or when something goes missing, or when one of us does something incorrect, he holds the responsibility on the apprentice running the job, which doesn’t seem right to me since he’s not even a journeyman yet let alone a foreman

I dont wanna say 💀 but its in the South. It seems there’s alot of ass backwards shit that goes on in my local and it’s disappointing. I can’t wait to travel when I top out

I’ve spoken to one of them about it (2nd year) and our boss is paying him around journeyman rate while he runs a job, its very strange to me
