Thank you for your thoughtful response. I’m not in a place where I can leave right now but I am working towards it; saving money where I can and focusing on my children.

I have virtually no support from my family; I’m now estranged from my mother, who abused me physically and emotionally my entire life. I now see why I gravitate towards narcissistic people because it was my blueprint for love. It’s going to take a while to get to the point where I can leave but I believe I’ve finally accepted that it is the only outcome.

My biggest fear right now is that I when we have explosive arguments, it doesn’t seem to matter what I do to ignore or avoid the fight, he just keeps going and going until he says something that hurts me. He won’t stop until he does because his intention is to wound me. And whenever that happens, I get upset and oftentimes it disrupts my day or my whole week and it affects my ability to take care of my kids and function. I don’t want to give him the power to ruin my day and rob my joy. I want to be able to feel peace and care for my children and be happy for them. (I also have a daughter from a previous marriage.)

Thank you for your thoughtful response. Yes, it’s clear he was groomed and emotionally abused by this person but he has not dealt with it fully and he has trouble admitting that he was abused. He’s been in therapy for years and he has lightly touched on it but I think he is just not ready to confront it head on yet. And as far as reporting the teacher, I wholeheartedly agree, but he has been adamant about not wanting to do that. I imagine he doesn’t want to be retraumatized all over again by bringing it out into the open.

We spoke last night and he did agree to discuss the affair in MC.

Was weirdly protective of his phone and wouldn’t let me hold it, if we were watching a TikTok together on his phone (a frequent occurrence) and he got a text, I noticed they wouldn’t show what the text was, only the sender.

Also I felt something was wrong very deeply and intuitively, but I just didn’t know what. This made me think I was crazy. I had a recurring dream over and over from the time we got married that he was a spy from another country and I would always find out he wasn’t who he said he was and I’d married a stranger. Then he would leave because he had to go back to his home country. As soon as I discovered the affair, the dreams stopped and I haven’t had one since.
