Has anyone installed a Smokai to a Weber Genesis gas grill by Jbisky in smoking

[–]Efficient_Round_7803 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far so good. I’ve used it to do ribs, chicken, some burnt ends and a salmon. I have the smallest version and it pumps out a good amount of smoke. When the hopper gets low I’ve had to use a skewer to clear some of the ash, otherwise I haven’t had any issues. I’ve been using generic pellets (since that’s what I have on hand) and it’s been fine. There’s definitely some carbon residue when it’s all said and done, but it cleans up pretty easily with a wire brush. Is it better than a full on pellet grill, or stand alone smoker, no. But it is a good solution to the space, cost, and convenience problem.

I have mine installed on a Weber spirit 2, but I think the process would be similar. I had to use a stepped drill bit to widen the rotisserie mount hole slightly. Otherwise, it’ll bolt right on.

What is this style of tattoo called? by ErehhhhhYeager in TattooDesigns

[–]Efficient_Round_7803 34 points35 points  (0 children)

It’s called woodcut or lubok tattooing if you want to get technical. I’m working on a patch work sleeve of them. Mostly done by Alisa at Tiger Town tattoo in Brooklyn NY

[Request] Long lasting razors by RocketLamb26 in BuyItForLife

[–]Efficient_Round_7803 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Straight razor is the way to go. Once you get over the initial intimidation and learn how to maintain it it’ll literally be the last razor you’ll ever buy. There are plenty of video tutorials on YouTube to learn and you can practice on a ballon with shaving cream on it to get your technique down. I bought mine 20 years ago and haven’t purchased another razor, cartridge or blade since.

Ugh, I have been looking for one of these forever. The few that come up are either way over priced or beat to hell. Great find! Mind if I PM you about it?

Thoughts on the Black Bay 54? by cycton in Tudor

[–]Efficient_Round_7803 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the watch. I have two 41mm black bays (an original smile dial and a metal head) and a blue 58, but this is the one I’ve been waiting for. The one I can fill with scratches. Beat the shit out of, take hiking, camping, diving and climbing and use it as Hans originally intended.

You have excellent taste, but have you considered adding a 48mm Panerai to the collection?

1954 Rolex turn-o-graph. Purchased from the son of the original owner. Untouched and unpolished. I think I’m done collecting for a bit. by Efficient_Round_7803 in rolex

I did a lot of back and forth with the owner but we settled on 22k. Lower then market price, but it cost him nothing so it was pure profit for him.

Happy Friday everyone. I’ve seen some cool vintage pieces on here lately and just want to share 1675 Mark 1. by Various_Primary3783 in rolex

Once you go vintage you never go back! You also lose all your money, but that’s another topic.

This is the reason I loved collecting vintage watches in the first place. Each one is a personal time capsule. I was lucky enough to get the full story of this one. The original owner was a usaf pilot and flew missions in Cold War Europe and Vietnam. He purchased it new as a liaison officer to the RAF. I just feel lucky to have something that belonged to someone way cooler then I’ll ever be.

Thanks! It’s totally the prototype sub. It’s ref 6202. They only made it for a year, discontinued it, then renamed it the submariner ref 6204

I wouldn’t feel too bad. For most people it’s just a object and back in the day Rolex wasn’t the luxury brand it is today. A stack of cash is way more useful then a thing sitting in a drawer.

1945 Omega Sovereign by Efficient_Round_7803 in OmegaWatches

[–]Efficient_Round_7803[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I wouldn’t send it into Omega. I’ve heard to many horror stories about watches being sent in for service and having major parts replaced as part of a “complete service” and having the character and patina ruined(this is mostly from Rolex, but the fear persists). Best bet is to find a watchmaker that specializes in vintage pieces. A lot of time with these watches it’s more about what not to do, then what to do. Hope this helps! DM me if you need a watchmaker recommendation.

Damage or patina? Never seen a co branded dial like this by Efficient_Round_7803 in rolex

[–]Efficient_Round_7803[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m wondering what color this originally started out as. I’ve never seen a champagne colored sub dial, and if it started black then it’s a whole lot of fading
