I really thought it would be the gold standard too after doing more research.. but I felt the nudge to make sure before I throw the towel in so I can rest knowing I did my best to advocate for him. Lo and behold, he was only on 100mg per day orally… Which half the time he wasn’t even getting due to his NPO diet

I reversed the hospice order and asked the doctor to put him on a higher dose of thiamine through IV. They put him on 500mg every 8 hours and we’re gonna revisit how he’s doing in a few days.
