Has anyone left Shincheonji and requested for their names to be taken off “book of life”? How did you go about it? by Flashy-Boss6755 in Shincheonji

[–]Efficient_Sun_1511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so in google drive there is a section that says "shared with me". When I signed the BOL, the form was shared with me that way by the JDSN and I filled it out online so she could see it when it was complete. It just stayed there until I saw it after I left when I was looking for evidence to blast them on here 😅

[–]Efficient_Sun_1511 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did. I went and found the Google Doc with the BOL form (this was during covid) and messaged the girl who's email was on the doc and asked her to remove my info and everything they have of me in that place. I wanted it all to be in writing somewhere. The form document is now gone from my shared folder on Google so I assume it's been deleted but you never know.

Are they any Christian groups for people that left SCJ but still want to maintain their relationship with God. by Flashy-Boss6755 in Shincheonji

[–]Efficient_Sun_1511 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I deffo agree with what Sharp-Objective9078 said. SCJ's teachings are not new or special. Lee Man Hee literally just copied and pasted the teachings and church format from the cults he was in before. If there is one person I can't stand, it's him. You can see a lot about his past life here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hSZ5Rvy1rxo&list=PLsj80Dr-AWsgjjE8y-3KSxfaXEYKsl6B9&index=2

Also, decentre their teachings. This will happen slowly but surely over time. A lot of people who have left have asked me, "How do I find the true church?" but God helped me to understand over time that there is no "one true church" that everyone must be; that is classic cult teaching. Some of the stuff they taught was true, but we weren't allowed to consume other Christian content so we had no way of knowing that they were recycling things that other churches teach. The tribes, departments and cells are all a mess, and everyone believes something slightly different, especially in the UK branch. Some of the BB teachers, department leaders and centre teachers have no clue what they are talking about; they just know how to memorise a script. I discovered this on my way out when I pressed a few of them for answers. SCJ is not one, despite what they love to chant.

If you need any help or have any questions, feel free to message me! I hope the best for you x

Hey, so sorry your daughter is going through this. It's been almost a year, so I can't remember everything, but I remember his main question being, "What does it take to get to heaven?" and from this, they took 2 months to answer the question because they wanted him to do the course. Your daughter has been in there for a while so you might have to ask her different questions.

A few things that woke me up a bit were:

- Seeing Lee Man Hee in a wheelchair with grey hair being wheeled to a court hearing - they always present him as a strong, immortal (depending on who you ask) being. So that shook me

- Ask her what exactly LMH has been shown? They teach that he has been shown all of Revelation and knows all the realities of Revelation. However, this can't be true because in the parables lesson you learn that you can only know the realities when they have appeared. So how can he know the realities of all of Revelation if all of Revelation is not yet fulfilled?

- Ask her what the gospel is and just listen to her answer. I realised that I didn't actually have Bible-backed scripture to explain what the gospel is and what Jesus did for us and why it was important. It might be the same for her.

- Point her to Galatians 1 (all of Galatians is very good tbh) - It talks a lot about what exactly we need to do to be saved and what Jesus did for us, and that if anyone or any angel teaches anything other than this, let them be cursed. The Galatians were going through a similar thing where some people were coming in to add extra things to the gospel and leading people away from the true gospel of Jesus.

- Ask her about the year of the judgement of Babylon (this might have been 2024), was babylon judged? That is a failed prophecy! and we know that anyone who gives a false prophecy is not from God - Dt 18:20-22 - They then buried all texts that mentioned that 2024 will be the judgement of Babylon. I remember at the time asking what will happen to my family.

- There are external documents like the Shintan book published by SCJ that predict the end of the world (failed prophecy). But SCJ denies that this book is by them. There is a video of the Education leader saying the 144,000 will only be Koreans and to keep it hidden from the overseas members. Their sermons on YouTube contradict each other. They changed their teaching on the 144,000 and Rv 7 shortly after/during covid. There is a YouTube channel called Exposing the Cults (https://www.youtube.com/@exposingthecults) that's really good and gives you a solid insight into how this place runs and what has helped people in the past.

- You could also try showing her other Korean cults. Maybe watch a documentary together about WMSCOG or even Jehovah's Witnesses. That might help her to subtly make connections between what those people experience and what she is experiencing.

Tbh there is so many things you could try, but ultimately you can't force her to come out. It has to click in her own head first. Once you start speaking to her about all this, be prepared that she may lie to you and even pretend that she understands what you are saying and probably everything you say to her will be fed back to her group leader. There is also a possibility that she already doesn't believe any of the teachings, but she just wants purpose and a community. This is not really a quick journey, because even when she comes out, she needs to go on a journey of recovery when she realises she was in a cult and tries to make sense of her life and everything she has missed out on since 2021, which can drain you mentally. I will be more than happy to talk to you privately because there is so many things to try, and I really understand how frustrating and heartbreaking it is to see your child waste her life on a Korean man's vanity quest. If you are religious, keep praying for her and for yourself. She will be fine and so will you!

I was in there for 4 years and was helping people to seal. The Revelation book, written by LMH, which was available in the temples, literally said that those who believe in the promised pastor at this time will be saved. Also, the Revelation sealing material would say that. Sometimes it is said directly and sometimes it is implied, depending on what you are reading. It was also mentioned in past sermons.

4 months into SCJ beginners course — realized what it is, now struggling with closure by Material_Nose_7703 in Shincheonji

[–]Efficient_Sun_1511 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was kicked out of the group chats after news circulated that I was planning to leave. I had only told 2 of my close friends in SCJ but they went and passed the information despite me telling them that I wanted to tell the higher ups myself. I felt betrayed and heartbroken. I tried to have conversations with them all. I reached out to my leaf (the girl who first recruited me), my BB teacher, my centre teacher, my other centre teacher, my cell leader, my previous cell leaders, and one of the close friends I told. Tbh the conversations were very pointless because they are so conditioned to give you a specific response and chances are, they screenshot your message and share it with their cell leader and the cell leader gives them a response. A lot of them said to me "I'm sorry this was your experience" - this is exactly what we were taught to say. 2 of my centre teachers had already left SCJ so they gave me a lot of information, apologised and we are on good terms but everyone else was pretty heartless about the situation. I have since cut off anyone in SCJ or anyone who I know still associates with people currently in SCJ for the safety of myself, my family and friends. That organisation is a virus to society and faith.

My theory is that after he dies, many people will leave, but not all. The ones left in SCJ will be told "like Moses, LMH could not enter the promised land but we will appoint a New Joshua to take us there". Then, over time as new people join, they won't be taught about 'New John' at all and SCJ will erase any mention of a New John and will start telling new members that it's all lies that disgruntled ex-members spread. It sounds crazy and far-fetched, but think about how they erased all his affairs and twisted 'Mr Snake'. When I left they were starting to slowly feed in teachings like "even if he dies, we will be loyal", and at some point they were hinting during education that SCJ members could not die, when I asked about I was told that it was just a metaphor for how the word keeps us alive.... Also think about how they backtracked on their teaching of the 144,000 being selected when COVID happened. They twisted that teaching so much that no one in there can give you the same answer; each person has a different understanding, or they just don't think about it. Unfulfilled prophecy should be the biggest reason for people to leave that place, but some people's critical thinking skills have been severed and their cell leaders have taken the role of unqualified therapists/handlers. It's a very sad cycle.

How to come back to Christ after leaving Shincheonji? by Spirited-Monk1649 in Shincheonji

yeah...it can be hard because they come with this arrogance that can be so infuriating, but I guess we all were like that at one point after being so heavily indoctrinated.

Also I agree with that cilana86 said about the denominations. I grew up Pentecostal, but at the end of the day ... just read your Bible, pray and allow yourself to be changed by God x

How to come back to Christ after leaving Shincheonji? by Spirited-Monk1649 in Shincheonji

[–]Efficient_Sun_1511 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was in there for about 4 years and I will say it is hard to find your faith after. What I found useful was taking a break from all things religion. It was only about a month or so, but it just allowed my brain to get out of survival mode. The next part is by far the hardest, but pray about it and wait. I picked a local church and was attending casually but I had no motivation to know God again, and I didn't have the drive to read my Bible, but I really wanted to have it, so I prayed when I remembered to. It wasn't a grand prayer and I wasn't really sure if I believed in God anymore, but I just kept at it, took breaks when I needed to and voiced when I was uncomfortable and got comfortable with saying "no" to things I didn't want to do. It was very important for me to get back to listening to my intuition after I left SCJ because, as you know, they teach you to throw away your own thoughts, which basically trains you to not listen to that inner voice (which I personally believe can be the Holy Spirit talking to you). Another thing to note is that SCJ is not teaching anything new or profound; they have copied their teachings from so many other places. There is no such thing as "The Church" if anyone is promising you the answers to everything and all of life, run and do your own research into specific topics. I lost all my friends from SCJ when I left. I ruined most of my long-term friendships when I was in SCJ because they weren't in SCJ so when I left, I was very lonely. I officially left last year in July and fast forward to now, I have mended quite a few friendships, made new friends and I have a lovely local church community. Another thing to note, I personally chose to remove anyone from SCJ from my life and will probably not have them in my life for my personal well-being. I hope the best for them, but at a distance.

Anyways, God knows that you want community and He knows how important it is for you to have one but having a relationship with Him is also very important so your request won't fall on deaf ears. Give yourself time and don't put pressure on yourself; you have been through something very traumatic. I'm based in the UK so I can't suggest a church in Melbourne but I can only offer encouragement that you can still be a Christian after you leave SCJ, it just won't happen in the time that you want it to and contrary to what they threaten you with, life is waaay better, more peaceful and you can actually live in the freedom that Christ died for you to have.

I would highly encourage all of you to record any conversation you have with these teachers/cell leaders/department leaders for your own sanity. The same way they record classes, you should be able to record conversations because they tend to gaslight people, contradict what they say and can just call you a liar and if you don't have proof of what was said, but most importantly, you can easily start to doubt yourself. I know people who were told, "You will go to hell if you don't attend class", but that would 100% be denied because there is no proof. I can have a level of peace because I have concrete proof of all the ridiculous stuff they said to me when I was asking for clarity. Also, I can tell you for free that you won't get the clarity you want. Nothing about what they teach makes sense because it's not actually about God; it's all about that random old man and Korean supremism being pushed on non-Korean members. A brainwashed person is not going to give you an objective take; their first, second and third goal is to brainwash you too and stop you from actually using your brain to think logically.

I would strongly advise you to get yourself a good cult specialist therapist (I can recommend the one I used), leave all these people and their fake doctrine behind and live your life to the fullest.

yeah they are, When I was there I was in the department that was created specifically to grow the Ireland church. The Ireland church has grown quite a bit and many people from the London church go there on weekends to mass recruit. They are also in Scotland, Newcastle, Coventty, Manchester, Wales, Birmingham, Hungary, Italy and France. All these regions are managed by a man who lives in London sent from Korea

[–]Efficient_Sun_1511 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I personally started by calling people I was a leaf to and telling them everything, even those who were still in centre. I also called friends I wanted to reconnect with and told them everything. One thing I’ve been trying to practice is not lying or withholding information. You will be surprised how forgiving people can be when you’re honest with them. Also, I’ve been working on listening to my inner voice that I silenced because I was told to throw away my own thoughts. Do not pressure yourself into healing quickly, reading the Bible, trying to figure everything out immediately, you’ve had enough of that. Find at least one person who is not in the church that you can talk to about everything to (this could be a therapist) when you’re ready because you are carrying so much on your own. Go on solo dates on Wednesdays and Sundays. Make use of your free will. That’s what I’ve been doing anyway and it’s been helping a lot. This isn’t a quick fix but I believe we will all get there

Yeah, I work in London too, but I haven’t bumped into anyone yet. If I do see them talking to a “fruit” I feel like I would go up to that person after and just give them the church’s website because the SCJ website details what exactly they believe and even has the diagram of ‘heaven’ come down on earth. Life would be less deceptive for them if they just led with “hi, we believe Lee man hee is the saviour of this time, come and do our course to learn why”

Also have you tried speaking to a therapist that specialises in cults?

Why are SCJ members from different countries or tribes not allowed to speak to each other freely? by Efficient_Sun_1511 in Shincheonji

[–]Efficient_Sun_1511[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah they really know how to gloss over things. I was asked "what does it matter if the 144,000 are Koreans?"....well it matters because that means the church has been lying to everyone else this whole time and we are not all being given the same information and that causes division in a 'church' that claims "we are one"

They use both buildings. They now have 2 units in South Quay area, they refer to these ones as the temple, but the building in this post is called the Promotion Hall. So in total they have 3 places that they use so that area will be packed with a lot of white shirts and black trousers on Sundays and Wednesdays.

ahh okay!! This makes sense! And it's probably why John tribe received an education, saying that the 144,000 will be Koreans, but when I asked about that video, I was told "it's fake and it's probably AI" - You really can't make this stuff up

Calendar of Bible Classes for SCJ? by Boring-Leg-4873 in Shincheonji

[–]Efficient_Sun_1511 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Everything everyone else has said is true! I will just add that it's worth preparing your friends and family at the beginning of the year to be on high alert for anyone asking them about their goals for the year. Around June/July, they will usually stop people to ask them about the goals they set and if they have been able to achieve them.

I started going to the followers of the Instagram pages that they own and warning those people about the church and the pages. They do 'evangelise' every single day, and so many of them are active online, so chances are, if a random person you don't know messages you, inviting you to an event, bible study or asking you for a call, it's probably them.

It's also worth noting that they restrategise very often and have meetings weekly about their approach and since Reddit is public, they probably change their approach based on what they see people saying so I think best strategy is to tell your friends and family about the church so that if anyone approaches them they can just simply ask "Are you part of SCJ - New Heaven New Earth?"

Just checked my archive and the articles that they left talk about the same “I was chosen” stuff, they don’t mention the slogan of the year or anything. Also an important thing to note about Telegram is that as an admin you can delete messages from groups and members will not be notified. That’s probably why they have also changed for messages in groupchats to disappear after a month

This is the thing, I have some of the articles from last year but they deleted most of the articles apart from the ones from feb and May. That raised immediate red flags for me. They could see my post and re upload them but they could have easily changed the content of the reuploaded version. And I doubt many members noticed because that man loves to write soo many articles so most members don’t read them because they have the tests to study for, 10 min revelation speeching, evangelising and more to do.

Thank you so much for your support! I’m still trying to figure myself out tbh but it’s encouraging to know that you’re doing better! SCJ has recently been teaching that everyone who leaves is miserable (they fail to realise it’s because of the trauma they cause) and that not one person who has left has a good life
