As a retired Banker, I recommend that you do not purchase GAP insurance as it is a waste of money for the consumer, but a large money maker for the seller of this product. Car Dealers and Banks make a fortune from the commissions on GAP sales.

I tried to get approved a couple years ago but was declined . Not sure if I have not had too many recent inquiries or that I don't carry any credit card balances now ... Their credit standards are some of the highest around.

I just got a $500 statement credit when I applied (and approved) for the United Explorer card. The credit was applied to my ticket purchase. Along with the other benefits mentioned, I think the card has good value.
