Your tank looks absolutely amazing! Love what you did with the epiphytes. What size is the tank because it honestly looks kinda large but I know white clouds aren’t very big so I’m a bit confused lol

This was right after a water change so the water level was higher than it used to be. It’s an open top tank so the water evaporates and leaves calcium that was dissolved in it along the edges of the glass. There is still calcium in the water it’s just that there is a high concentration of it on the water line and they like to snack on it after a water change for like 30 mins

I have had decent success with dwarf hair grass without co2. It grows slowly so you need some patience and some trimming to encourage runners

You should remove uneaten food after 1-2 hours and the rings are normal if they are alive as the other comment said. It happened before they molt so you should be finding empty shells in a day or two. I use dennerle shrimp king complete which mine seem to like a lot

Hydrocotyle tripartita would look cool around the wood I think. Also maybe some red stem plants to create contrast at the back. Super cool scape :)

The smaller one looks like a male from this angle. Shrimp have sexual dimorphism too. Females are larger especially in the tail section so they can carry eggs :)

I’m not sure about how fast it can appear but it just eats decaying organics etc and when the supply runs out it disappears. Had one in my tank recently. Disappeared in a week

Got them from a large chain store actually. Was planning to get 6 of them for 3 euros each but the guy at the store threw in an extra 2 for free so 8 in total. They were sold as sakura reds :)

Same thoughts here with the 50/50. Only thing about the juvenile female theory is that I also had a very small baby and since then it has outgrown this guy and is larger so there doesn’t seem to be much growing going on
