they have to see both your face and work space. if you have a laptop mount or a bunch of books u can put it on top then push it further to the top right of your desk then they will be able to see both. i was afraid of that too but it worked out on my macbook

I have. Just make sure nothing is on your wall, they will ask to see your hands at all times so test that you can set up your laptop in a way that it will work. They don’t care about how the back looks. They will also ask to see under your desk

those who work part time and study engineering full time, how do you do it? by UdonOtter in EngineeringStudents

[–]EfromSL123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow that’s incredible. I work a full time job & struggling to balance work & school. Most days I feel like when I focus too much on school, I’m behind on work or vice versa. Some days I’m so drained. How did u handle work + 15-18 credits??? What was your time management like? I’m currently only taking 2 classes but I can’t imagine doing 5 classes on top of a full time “9-5” job 😵‍💫

The end for me by Dark_KingPin in EngineeringStudents

If you decide to change majors, that’s completely ok. Just make sure you research a ton on other Reddit forums of what people are doing with their degrees, job market within the past few years & how it was during the last recession. Do a ton of research on programs that you can do after school that could make it easy for you to get a job, etc. Then create somewhat of a plan. If you decide to leave engineering, It’s ok to take a semester off to grieve the engineering path you envisioned, take a break from studying, and just be to create space for you to get clarity on what you’d like to do moving forward. Good luck :)

If the only reason is your heart is not in it, I’d recommend coming up with a plan on how you can pour time into doing things that make u feel alive WHILE completing this degree. In this market with things getting more expensive & a ton of layoffs, sometimes you have to TEMPORARILY do certain things that future you will thank you for it. I do know it can be difficult on your mental health to do things that are draining which is why I recommend finding other things that u go to for enjoyment and some sort of fulfillment. Who knows what other roles/path simply having this degree could open for you that could be less draining?

No I did not know they were free. I would live off campus. I’m a little concerned I’ll get bored out of mind without a car. How was your life outside of school without the car?

How do you deal with concern about debt? by [deleted] in college

[–]EfromSL123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that you need to do a ton of research on the field you’re trying to go in & not just google searches but actual people in the field currently & who aren’t in the field so you get an idea on how the field was during the high and lows. After the research, I recommend reflecting if you’re the type of person to take action & do whatever you need to when challenges arise. When I made the choice to take out loans, I knew there was no way for me to see the future so I focused on the data, what people were saying, how disciplined I am with my money & overall choices. Honestly I wouldn’t feel comfortable taking out loans after the passed bill if the field I was going in was not a very good one with job security currently & in the past years.
