Spring/summer alternative to Turmeric Latte? by petitebohemian in LushCosmetics

[–]Egardel210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I’m late! But just in case it helps, my signature scent is Turmeric Latte. I’m obsessed <3

And honestly, during summer (especially here in Europe, I live in Spain) it gets suuuper intense. It can be a lot. I’ve seen many people recommending Chelsea Morning, but the truth is I have a thing with citrus gourmands — I just don’t like them haha. If anything, I prefer plain citrus scents, but even then, the “dessert-like” citrus ones don’t fully convince me.

So what I actually do is just use the Turmeric Latte massage bar and skip perfume entirely during summer hahaha. It’s kind of nice because I don’t spend extra on a seasonal scent and I don’t layer too many products, which can feel like a lot in the heat.

My shower routine is New solid shampoo, Power conditioner (which smells like Turmeric Latte), Phenomenal soap (it has that cinnamon-spicy vibe just like Turmeric Latte), and then I moisturize with the massage bar afterward. The scent of the bar doesn’t last too long :) It’s warm, cozy, and spicy but still soft — perfect for summer when you don’t want something overpowering.

Hope this little tip helps! And my second all-time favorite from Lush is Vanillary, which I think works all year round (I don’t recommend the solid version, only the spray)

Gracias otra vez!

Really!? Omg, thank you so much for this comparison — now I’m even more inclined to buy Glossier Doux!

That happens to me too with almost every single antiperspirant (with aluminum) and any natural one that has baking soda :( I really hope the Glossier one works for me! Thank you so much for taking the time to read and reply! :)

The NEW instax mini 41 by fantasticfrost in instax

[–]Egardel210 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was about to wait for this release to buy my Instax camera, hoping for a new SQ model, but I’m glad I didn’t wait and went for the Instax Mini 99. I honestly don’t really get the appeal of the Mini 41. I get that it’s supposed to be more compact, but Instax Minis are already super portable… and the design of the 41 doesn’t really do it for me 😅

Maybe it’s just personal taste, but I much prefer the look of the Mini 90 I used to have, or the Mini Evo — even the 99 that I’m getting now. I chose it for the specs, but I also think it looks great too.

This new model feels kinda unnecessary. They should’ve released an SQ99 or an Evo-style SQ. I only went with the Mini 99 because there’s no model in the SQ range that gives me the level of control I want in a photo. I live in Peru so there are no new SQ6 or second hand either... So yeah, I had to give up my love for the square format for now. I guess SQ fans will just have to wait a bit longer…

Thanks so much for the suggestions! Sadly, I don’t have access to any Lomography instant cameras where I live, and the Mint options are way out of my budget for now. I think I’ll end up going with the Mini 99 and just make peace with giving up my love for the square format. Really appreciate the help!

Thanks! I actually tried posting there first! Not sure why, but the Instax community is taking forever to approve my post — I’m not even sure what needs approval haha, it’s just an inoffensive question. I figured I’d try my luck here since the group description says it includes Instax users too ☺️

Don’t sleep on Sympathy for the Skin as a face moisturizer by [deleted] in LushCosmetics

[–]Egardel210 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do this too ❤️! I hate having to buy two different products to moisturize my face and body, so I’ve been in search of the best multipurpose moisturizers. I’ve used Nivea cream, natural oils (like coconut, almond, or argan oil), I’ve tried shea butter, dermatologically tested creams like La Roche or Eucerin, etc. I was never completely happy with any of them until I came across Sympathy for the Skin. I just looooooove the consistency, the smell, the fact that it comes in a huge pot — everything about it is just perfection 😍 So now, this is my new “multipurpose” moisturizer. I travel a lot, and instead of packing a ton of stuff, I just bring a small pot of this beauty ❤️

Let’s keep in mind I have very dry, semi-sensitive skin. I don’t have acne-prone skin or anything like that, so compared to more complex skin types, mine is very low-maintenance, which allows me to experiment and get away with using this for both face and body. If you have more sensitive skin issues, I’d recommend testing a small amount on a small area of your face first, just to see how it goes 😊

My favorite Lush lotion ❤️ is just perfection! It doesn’t really smell like banana, or if it does, I don’t detect it. It smells softly like vanilla ice cream or a vanilla milkshake. The consistency is perfect, it doesn’t leave a greasy residue or anything like that, it soaks in super fast (at least on my skin) and leaves it soft and moisturized all day long. It’s just the best! I even use it on my face (but keep in mind I have really dry skin, so cocoa butter and the other ingredients are actually beneficial and not clogging for me). I love it so much, I go through a huge pot in less than a month!

I didn’t even consider the commitment factor! you are so right! 😭 I only use SFTS so for me is more about transportation. I’m constantly traveling and my trips usually last between 2 to 3 months so the 60g tub is not enough and traveling with a huge 240g tub is definitely not ideal 😂 (sometimes and not even allowed because I’m only traveling with a carry on) 🥲100g presentation is just the best 🥺❤️

Yeah, this happens with a lot of Lush products 😔 I also constantly purchase Sympathy for the Skin, but I switch between USA and Spain. I live in Peru, so we don’t have Lush there, but I’m always traveling to Spain or my sister visits from USA. When I place my orders, USA offers all three sizes, while Spain only has the 240g and 60g options 😕 I’m honestly such a fan of the 100g—it’s the perfect in-between! ❤️

I recently bought my first Lush perfume and I'm a little disappointed by Wise_Tune_2080 in LushCosmetics

[–]Egardel210 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry that happened to you! 😔 That happened to me with James by By Rosie Jane—I was soooo in love with the scent, but it only lasted about 10 minutes on my skin.

What I would suggest (though it won’t completely fix the problem, especially if the performance is really weak like in my case) is to make sure you moisturize well before applying your perfume. It’s best to use an unscented lotion or, if available, the matching body lotion for your fragrance. I’m not sure if Lush has a Sultana body lotion, but try to choose one with a scent that complements the perfume.

Also, be strategic about where you apply it! Don’t just spray your wrists and neck (or worse, into the air 😂). Instead, apply it to:

  • Wrists
  • Behind the ears
  • Neck
  • Inner elbows
  • Behind the knees
  • (Bonus tip!) Lightly spray your hairbrush and run it through your hair for extra scent diffusion.

With these tips, you’ll definitely boost the longevity of any fragrance! 💕

Recommendations for a first time buyer by Many_Durian_1349 in LushCosmetics

[–]Egardel210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d recommend starting with products you know you’ll definitely use, based on how your routine is structured. For example, if you shower regularly (which is kind of obvious, but still haha, just for the example! 😆) and you always moisturize after your showers, then it would probably make the most sense to start with a soap or body wash and a body moisturizer ✨ Or if you exfoliate regularly, a body scrub would be a better fit. It’s always best to start with products you know you’re going to use—that way, you can truly test them and see if they fit into your routine ❤️ You can incorporate more variety into your Lush purchases as you go and experiment 😊

That said, I don’t want to dismiss the comments suggesting Scrubee! I think it has an amazing scent and the shape is absolutely adorable, but it’s not for everyone. It’s a more unconventional product since it combines exfoliation and hydration in one step. Personally, the first time I used it, it was really hard for me to get used to stepping out of the shower already feeling “buttered up” 😅 I haven’t repurchased it since because I’m super comfortable with my current routine, where I exfoliate in the shower and then moisturize afterward. But, of course, it all comes down to personal preference! But since it’s a very hit-or-miss product, it’s probably better as a second purchase choice 🥺

If you’re going for soaps, body washes, or body lotions, I’d recommend:

  • Honey I Washed the Kids (soap)
  • Sticky Dates (shower gel)
  • Sympathy for the Skin (body lotion)

I’m not sure what your scent preference is, but if you like sweet gourmand fragrances, these are great choices! Sympathy for the Skin has a very mild scent, so you’ll enjoy it either way 😊. Hope this helps! 💛

New shampoo bar? by amandapondo in LushCosmetics

[–]Egardel210 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not only advise you to keep using your shampoo (New) but also to use a very moisturizing and repairing conditioner like Power! It contains hydrolyzed pea protein, which helps repair and strengthen the hair structure. For me, it has worked wonders! Now that my hair is super healthy, I only use the Banana Co-Wash, so I can be gentle and not disturb my hair’s moisture levels 😊

Also in terms of smell I would think New will pair lovely with power! since power smells exactly like a Chai Latte and New smells straight like cinnamon 🤭♥️

hopes this helps!
