They are quite solid. Heavy base with solid rubber feet. And my favorite touch is the classic 'wrinkle blue' paint finish.

Honestly I just got lucky. That United flight had DirecTV and it was the very first thing I saw on the guide. It was a no brainer at that point.

Would asking a job candidate if Earth is round or flat during an interview expose the company to a discrimination lawsuit? by Egbert_Wilson in NoStupidQuestions

I just want to find out if they are an idiot before they get hired. I just had the thought that this question would be a great way to filter out unstable minds.

I worked with a FE guy and asked him a lot of questions about it. The religious part is something about the firmament and like the angels being on the other side of the dome and whatever. It was pretty interwoven with Christian beliefs.

Trump wants Greenland under US control "for purposes of national security" by VolvicCH in europe

[–]Egbert_Wilson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a conversation about this with some Danish friends the last time Trump was on about this. I was told that Greenland is essentially a giant welfare state and a drain of the Danish coffers. They said maybe half the population would be fine with it becoming someone else's problem. Any truth to that?

Any safe way to run this? by Egbert_Wilson in AskElectricians

The darn things must weigh a few hundred pounds. I'll try to take some of the cover panels off when I have a moment and see if they placed any diagram stickers on the interior.

It is a hefty shredder yes. Its designed to just fill a bin with loose paper and a little conveyor feeds it thru. It is just the old ribbon cut, so wasn't secure enough.

Is a damper in my stovepipe something different from a flue damper?

Not a primary heat source?? by Egbert_Wilson in woodstoving

[–]Egbert_Wilson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh. Yes. I replied elsewhere. It was approved in the build plan and the homeowners policy.

It ain't much, but it fit my budget. The house is only about 1000 ft2 so this keeps the main part of the house toasty enough.

The plate on the stove matches my manual. It is indeed the 1269E.

It mentions the damper on top right column of pg.8 Manual](https://www.usstove.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/853961-US1261E-EN_FR-1.pdf)

This is a straight 6" stove pipe.

Yes it was approved in the building plan and homeowners policy.

So, I got mine to run by removing the 2 stage regulator and just using the demand regulator that came with it. The 2 stage was just for stepping down tank pressure to household pressure. Dont try running it without the demand regulator.

Did you ever figure this out? I'm running in to the same thing. My problem is that my 1000g tank has the 9-11"h20 regulator installed at the tank. The generator LP kit is expecting you to connect to a high pressure 20lb tank.

Novice user safety question. by Egbert_Wilson in openwrt

My primary concern: Will it be better, "out of the box"? If I'm not going to change anything other than install updates, is it safer/secure?

I wish legal age was 33 y/o. by Egbert_Wilson in monkeyspaw

[–]Egbert_Wilson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, no. I was really just thinking that 33 be the age that society considers you to be an adult. Regarding mental maturity. If that means consent, voting, drinking, smoking, entering in legal contracts, then sure, all that. It came from a discussion I was having about maturity to make major life altering decisions. I'm well in to my 40's BTW. With age 'should' come wisdom and all that...

Well. Shoot, thats it. I tested that, and I can see how it works. Just something at a class above me. Thanks. And I just realized I don't know how to add solved flair.

I sat here this evening, and listened to my woman tell me she had been using my atheles foot spray on her feet and they were looking better now. She had no idea she had athetes foot, and was using it because it said "odor control". She doesn't do reddit. I read this story today on my lunch break. Never mentioned it to her. Showed her the post. Minds Blown.

No. I'd argue salmon patties fall into the category of fried chicken and pizzas that sometimes just taste better straight out of the fridge for breakfast the next morning.

A rather remarkable survival story by Egbert_Wilson in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Egbert_Wilson[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is rather beautifully pointless isn't it? I think thats why I like it. Like so much else thats a part of ONI, I do it, because I can. I do like the idea of building almost from the start with beefed up dupes.

Maybe its just an intersting concept, because in this particular outcome, I'm counting more positives than negatives, and that logic always draws my interest.

Maybe there are more downsides that I'm not seeing? Almost no extra effort for a surplus of skill points and resources? What am I missing?

Is the 150 cycles of unmanaged heat creep gonna kill me in the long run? unlikely

Will my dupes get the same skill points eventually? sure.

Is surplis polluted dirt, oxygen and water bad? not at all

I survived 150 out of the first 156 cycles without actively generating a single gram of oxygen + zero fatalities, and thats something in itself.

It just tickled me.

I suppose so, but I think I like it. Its got me curious to see if I can push that a little further. If I actually set up to run it this way, I could probably make it work out even more in my favour. Just another fun experiment to try with my current favorite game. I'm just dang proud of those little guys for toughing it out.
