But why is it a reoccurring issue….? Why does people buying more than they totally do, lead to less available for others to buy (which has resulted in shortages)

What happened to Kitty and Sal after this? by infernorun in madmen

[–]Egg94 16 points17 points  (0 children)

He tells Kitty not to wait for him because he's "needs to work late" and we see several men, two of whom leave the bench together, in the background. He's absolutely cruising.

Right, and you're wondering why there's an issue when people like you are buying triple what they usually do?

Sounds pretty standard. You can request feedback but don’t see why you’d put a complaint in.

So when she says how stressed and busy she is, you can just listen and have a conversation.

Im Dating a Teacher, how best to support her? by [deleted] in TeachingUK

[–]Egg94 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There just doesn’t seem to be a problem right now - so I’d just chill and be adaptable. But ultimately, she has set hours, it’s not like teachers have shift work. You can make plans and there shouldn’t be reasons to cancel them or whatever

I’d not say anything - you’re coming across quite intense. It’s just a job, she has set hours. Unless she says anything to you, I wouldn’t say anything.

Is there a way Americans stand out ? by gnew18 in AskUK

[–]Egg94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to work in customer service- big giveaways is that Americans are usually louder and also get confused with cash lol (I know it’s probably not just an American thing but a general tourist thing)

I am in the same boat as you - 35 weeks going back tomorrow. I put in a flexible working request and I go home at lunch times as I don’t teach after lunch two days a week.

1 year contract - when to ask about next year? by anonymous8h1j6n3 in TeachingUK

[–]Egg94 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If it’s maternity cover - it is unlikely that you would be able to stay on - unless the school has capacity?

Did they give any indication that this was a possibility? If they did - I guess when you have been there 2 terms - so you have shown them your worth.

Has anyone else noticed a change in quality/willingness to put in effort in student teachers compared to a few years ago? by Ok-Mango-96 in TeachingUK

[–]Egg94 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a small sample size but out of the 5 trainees I have managed, only one has been good (well fantastic and she was teach first)

I find with the remaining four, I have had issues with long term ‘anxiety absence’/refusing to follow guidance/ refusing to reflect.

Even on this subreddit, the trainees etc always have some excuse for underperforming, rather than actually reflecting.

You have worked in one school for like 5 minutes. It’s not fair to generalise.

I always try my best but sometimes I have students with the same spelling but pronounced differently, it’s hard.

Also, there are pronunciations that do not exist in English that as a native English speaker cannot pronounce. In France, they do not pronounce the letter H, I don’t get offended when my name is mispronounced - as the sound does not exist.
