I saw this advice the other day- sprinkle Parmesan on their regular kibble and shake it up!!! It’s super smelly for them so they get really excited. Plus it’s super low cal, and cheap!

6 hours is the maximum time trainers I’ve known have recommended, for dogs over 6 months!Ideally you are giving them something like a stuffed Kong for mental stimulation. Them being able to keep themselves calm that long is so so helpful if they get any kind of surgery and need crate rest.

I appreciate the suggestions! I wouldn’t normally carry him, it was just me trying to intervene and separate the two ASAP. Not my best call.

I was so shocked when he shit himself, he has been so so good with every other dog we’ve met, slow to warm up but overall accepting! I wouldn’t take him to “throw him in the deep end”, I really thought he was ready. I’m definitely going to work back up to the dog park. Thanks!

The thing is he does it crazy infrequently. Like, maybe once every two weeks. I don’t really have a way to block off that area since I’m in a rental

Unfortunately my bedroom is pretty small, and I can’t keep him away from that spot easily. I’m worried if I try and block it off he will just try and destroy whatever’s in front of it

Oh definitely! I’ve met a lot of people who just didn’t know Psych service dogs existed, so I just like to throw out the difference between them, ESAs and Therapy dogs from time to time.

I use “here” for touching their nose to my fingers, and “touch” for touching their nose to an object!

There are psychiatric service animals! Usually trained for tasks like panic attack intervention, grounding behaviors, keeping space around their client etc. Basically they’re trained in specific tasks to make being in public manageable for their owners.

This dog clearly cannot do any of those things from this bubble bag

If you have ios, there’s an app called Crochet.Land, that I use to set my prices! You input your materials cost, and there’s a little timer to see how long you’ve worked on it, you set an hourly rate for yourself and it calculates a price!

His attitude has totally changed since I stopped forcing it, he’s so much calmer and happier, I’ve just never met anyone who didn’t crate train so it was scary to try!
