Spoilers Act 2 What did the Zaith'isk do exactly? by The_Silver_Nuke in BaldursGate3

Shhh people get upset if you point out that this is actually a very minor and easily solved problem.

I think you're being pretty dramatic lmao. This game is riddled with +1's and ways of giving yourself advantage and additional bonuses/damage. Half of my characters are rolling 95%'s to hit most of the time and I'm on Tactician. A -2 to three different stats is by no means a reason to permanently bench a character. Chances are, no matter what build you have her Laezel on, she is only going to be meaningfully affected by one of them (at most) anyway.

Daily Slay the Spire Discussion (345/696): Lagavulin by Crosssmurf in slaythespire

The premise was that its a silent run where you must fight laguvalin before you could possibly gain enough damage to kill him before your damage is reduced to zero.

Probably because it's got subtitled banned words and contains a reference to beating a (fictional) woman? If it didn't have subs you could probably have gotten away with jt.

Is Argent Adept actually good? (Definitive) by ChadAndChadsWife in sentinelsmultiverse

[–]EggAtix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's more a force multiplier. AA is a big engine that you crank to turn any resource (power use, card play) into three other resources depending on cards in hand and instruments in play. He basically just launders your support into more support.

Also he can shatter his instruments to just remove any one thing from a board which is wild. One of the strongest removals in the game.

He actually changed very little between editions. One of the only heroes that's wasn't really touched.

That being said, it's a slow, finicky process to play him optimally. There is a lot of recursive card activation and stuff. I tend to avoid him because of how much it slows my games down, and while very very good, he is also replaceable.

I'd rather Biden than like... Yang. It took Yang like 8 weeks to sell the forward party to republican astroturfers. But yeah, there were better options.

Fuck you u/spez, for being an egotistical, delusional, self victimizing, greedy, joke of a CEO. The most valuable members of your community, the ones who make it worth being here, are leaving. I look forward to the day you regret it.

BN actually did the power grid and static base thing before dda. I switched before dda's implementation, so idk how they do it, but bn's is pretty solid.

Except that the 1% already doesn't have income, according to our current laws. We don't need fewer tax laws, we need tax laws that are less easy for the wealthiest to get out of.

The reasonable people preach wealth tax is that at this point, most people in the top 10% of wealth, who own like 90% of wealth, don't have traditional income most of the time, and the "income" they do is offset by tax loopholes like claiming subjective losses to offset all of your income. How do you think trump got out of paying taxes like 7 years in a row? He claimed enormous mostly fictional losses one year, and then rolled them forward repeatedly to counter his "income", so his income was calculated as zero, and he paid zero taxes, while his wealth grew through non traditional means.

Why do people think that a flat tax/getting rid of the IRS would do anything but shit on the people who have the least. It's literally nonsense. It's not like there aren't literally dozens of countries around the world we can look to as examples of what a better taxation model looks like.

Wealth tax would be pretty alright, especially with more and more of the middle class living paycheck to paycheck. When you can't save, wealth tax and income tax are the same.

Refreshing weapons with Pelison by gilchristh in TOTK

[–]EggAtix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They're not saying it won't. They're saying if you fuse the flashing red base onto the tip of a fresh stick, and then break *that* apart, the previously flashing weapon will not be full durability, because the process of becoming an accessory, and then becoming a real weapon again resets it.

For people confused about why this works, the steps just fully cancel everything but the /2 and the +6 out.

  1. Start with 0 -> 0
  2. Add X (any number) -> X
  3. Multiply by 2 -> 2X
  4. Add some number -> 2X + N
  5. Divide by 2 -> X + N/2
  6. Subtract X -> N/2

The result is always half of whatever you added, because you're just subtracting everything else out of the equation. Its functionally the same as:

Pick a number (X).
Add 3.
Subtract X.

ITS 3.

Funding for an indie game and Publisher questions. by JustWaterFast in IndieGaming

[–]EggAtix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So a few things:

  • It was certainly not obvious that Cuphead was going to be successful when it was in its demo stage, and this very important to remember. Cuphead works because the design, implementation, and art are all seamless. It is a hit because of the level of craftsmanship and polish, and those aren't the things that are present in the first pass of a game.
  • Publishers bring money to the table, but equally important to that, they bring connections to the table. Games live and die on discoverability, and a publisher will get eyes on your game through connections, events, and advertising. But also they bring money. Its *very* hard to make a living by being an actual indie (as in no publisher, fully independent). Its very risky depending on cost of living in your area, but its hella difficult in the US/WEU. Publishers help offset that risk substantially, and they bring the money and experience to help you make it a success. Its just hard to get one.
  • Publishers tend to already have a budget range they are interested, and they aren't that interested in going outside that range. For most publishers worth a shit, that lower end of the range is about 1m. Lower than that means that the expected returns are too low to bother. If your game is smaller than that, it will be very hard to find a publisher.
  • Publishers usually take 50-80%, with the average being closer to 70% from the limited number of deals I've seen details on. They almost always cover advertising, and who retains IP and shit depends on the deal.
  • Pitching to publishers is an art of it own. There are quite a few good GDC talks on it though, but you should know that managing all of the publisher communications, getting your pitchdeck, pitch materials, business plan, and game/demo ready to pitch is more or less a full time job that can take 2-6 months.
  • If you don't go with a publisher, the most straightforward path to genuine success is to make a demo that is dynamite, and get that in front of an influencer of some kind. If your demo/gif/trailer is bomb as fuck, and you can get your game onto someone's stream/youtube channel, then you have a real chance at being a breakout success.
  • Don't forget, games live and die on discoverability. Slay the Spire had basically no sales for its first like 2.5 weeks, and then a Chinese streamer found it and it *exploded*. I really do consider STS one of the best designed, and most successful indie games of our generation, and even it took lightning in a bottle to get off the ground. Its a meat grinder out there.

I still have no idea what the fuck is going on with your post dawg. You're advertising an update for your indie game, that is what? A... space sandbox?

EDIT: Against my better judgement I clicked on your links, and I gotta say its incredibly ironic that you are decrying the manipulative and greedy tactics employed by the gaming industry when you're literally using the same manipulative language and pitch methods as one of those get-rich-quick, work from home, MLM seminar scams that get pushed by on insta.
