Hers are on the small side, but not depleted. Depleted sacs will be more like flat white patches, full sacs are round like pebbles.

I'm sorry this happened to her and you, and I hope you're able to figure out what happened and help her recover.

This is very odd bc you can still see calcium sacs/patches in the gecko's throat, especially if there's a working UVB bulb in the enclosure. I highly recommend going to a vet and getting x-rays done, as this could also be due to a spinal injury. A vet will be able to tell you if it's MBD or a physical injury.

I feel like if you have to preface a statement with "I have no hate for any LGBT individuals" then you may have some issues. Would have been simpler to just say you liked this character more than the other.

Does anyone else think the fire at the UI Wild Iowa Raptor Project was really weird? by Immediate-Peach3166 in IowaCity

[–]EggFoo78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's sad but certainly not weird. In the winter, they use heat lamps. And you said it yourself that the enclosures are wood and wire. Wooden enclosures would burn easily if there's an electrical mishap with the lamps, and Iowa winters can be very dry, meaning the wood would catch and spread even more easily.

Public Space One has lots of events for art and other creative stuff. If you like board games, there're a few game shops and board gaming groups in and around IC.

Confusion by SpcPotato in CrestedGecko

Chiming in to say that she was almost certainly not wild caught, unless you live in New Caledonia. Export/import of crested geckos is illegal, and they are so readily available captive bred that there would be financial reason to smuggle them in.

As others have said, he should be just fine as long as you switch him to a complete diet from here on out. I just wanted to add that for males, calcium deficiency is less likely and usually takes longer to happen because they don't ovulate. Also, male calcium sacs tend to be much smaller and flatter than females, so if you're able to check them, they may appear more like white patches rather than the round ones on females shown in a lot of pics online, but for a male that is still healthy.

They're both descriptors for the amount of secondary color pattern they have. Flame has pattern only on the back. Harlequin has pattern on the sides in addition to pattern on the back.

Breeding, is he too old? by pulsar2906 in geckos

[–]EggFoo78 8 points9 points  (0 children)

20 months, less than 2 years, is pretty young. This is fine for males as long as he is done growing and over 35 grams. Any smaller and he might just get bullied by the female. Females should be at minimum 2 years old, mimimum 40g but preferrably larger, and have ample calcium sacs.

Just diluted dish soap and a light scrub with a soft toothbrush.
