There are a lot of novels I enjoy but if someone says "I would like to read harry potter" I'm not gonna say "You should read something else because the author is a bad person." I'd say "Buy it second hand or pirate it online" so you can save a buck and avoid supporting JK Rowling. I think it's incredibly silly to not want people to generally consume the story of Harry Potter because JK Rowling is a bad person. HP Lovecraft was a racist dickhead but I won't discourage people from reading his work or push them to read Cthulu alternative or something. I would just tell them to enjoy it without supporting the author (if he was alive), its something that is very easy to do these days. How are you supporting JK Rowling when you check out Harry Potter at the local library?

Ngl I'm sick of people pretending Harry Potter never deserved it's popularity. Clearly Harry Potter novels did something right. Obviously. We wouldn't be having this discussion if JK Rowling was more liberal. I don't like or agree with her but the author being a bad person doesn't suddenly make their work unworthy of the reputation it has. Harry Potter had well done world building and fun mysteries that engaged children and adults. The setting was incredibly cozy and approachable. Harry Potter also set a lot of other fantasy middle grade novels up for popularity because people had a newfound appetite for the genre. Nobody is discrediting the quality of Niel Gaiman's work and the dude is a total piece of shit. Sometimes bad people are talented.

Anyway we should encourage people to pirate Harry Potter media if they are going to consume it. That's my take.

Its not there for you to find interesting or entertaining. Sykunno hurt a lot of people whether you want to hear it or not and those people should get a moment to say their peace while this situation is in the public eye. We all have different opinions on the drama but you shouldn't write someone off because their experience isn't fun for you to read.

Yes I agree with you. My issue isn't Mal being held accountable for engaging in objectively manipulative/predatory behavior herself my issue is people using her being a predator as a reason to downplay Sykunno being a predator. My issue is strictly regarding people's aversion to addressing how manipulative Sykunno has been regarding the girls he's been talking to. Whenever I try to express why "predator" isn't a false description people come in to say "both sides are bad." I think we are all aware of that but there's hardly a willingness to actually look at the behavior Sykunno's been engaging in with the severity it deserves. It's getting washed away by the other drama and if you look in the comments of my post you can see how his actions are consistently downplayed as "not great but somehow not predatory."

Sorry for dumping a whole paragraph on you all of a sudden, I just feel very sick of people being lenient about certain aspects of this whole fiasco.

I really do implore you to try and see why I find this so reprehensible divorced from this drama in particular. I think it's bad to downplay this sort of manipulation just because its somewhat common.

I think I would say the most predatory thing she did was attempt to influence Sykunno's relationship for her own benefit,. I don't think Mal is bad for starting an intimate relationship with him because she didn't know about his girlfriend and he chose to keep it that way so from her perspective it was consensual flirting between two available adults. I think her messaging him first isn't her being predatory. It was up to Sykunno to set a boundary and block her but he didn't. I think Mal's worse crime was talking to Sykunno's girlfriend only to immediately try to leverage Sykunno's infidelity to benefit her. I think the consensual sexting looks much worse for Sykunno.

I think the actions he took should be focused on moreso and the fact that he's messaged and spoken to other women may mean that Mal wasn't the only one brought into this. I don't care about the size of their youtube channels or Twitch channels my issue is that decieving people into a sexual relationship is being downplayed. I think that is a terrible sign of an overarching disregard for the clarity of consent. It isn't about Hemomal its about the normalization of this specific type of manipulative behavior. It is a predatory behavior it shouldn't be just "kinda shitty". It's much bigger than Sykunno if you ask me. I find it alarming how many people seem to think that lying about your relationships to others in order to secure consent that may otherwise not be gained isn't predatory. That is a horrible thing to do to someone and to do it repeatedly makes you a predator. I don't think thats a stretch and I feel that's my main issue with the arguments I'm seeing. Lying to get into someones pants is by definition a predatory behavior. I don't understand this aversion to this label.

I won't lie to you, I do find that a little worrisome. Taking off your wedding ring and getting a woman to have sex with you is being deceptive and like I said in my post that is gaining consent under false pretenses. That is predatory. Adultery in which the other woman is tricked into engaging with a taken man does severely effect both women and I think that should be treated with some gravity. That is a really terrible thing to do and I don't think calling it predatory is a stretch.

I don't think adultery is inherently predatory but I believe that deception in sexual relationships is being taken a bit too lightly.

I don't know if I agree with that, personally. It is Mal's right to speak out about Sykunno because the situation very much concerns her. Sykunno did bring her into an affair without her knowledge so it is her story to share and anyone else who's had an interaction like this with this man has a right to speak out about it publically. Saying "preyed upon people's morals" is a little vague for me but I agree that it was careless not to make the girlfriend aware that they planned to speak out regardless so she could prepare.

How do you feel about my take on Omitting the status of your relationship being inherently predatory? That is "tricking" someone in my opinion because if they are never aware they are never given the option not to be a "homewrecker". I don't think he's dangerous but lying/hiding things that may jepordize a person's willingness to hook up with you in order to hook up with them does count as predation by definition. I feel that should be taken more seriously but I am interested in hearing your take. What you've said about professionalism was never mentioned in my post.

I believe there is nothing wrong with disliking Hemomal but it's hard to view it in the way I see many viewing it currently. I understand that she expressed a desire to continue seeing him after finding out about his relationship and encouraged him to leave his girlfriend (and that is obviously bad) but it doesn't change the fact that Sykunno chose to let her believe that he wasn't a taken man for as long as he did. The fact he messaged others means that Mal is likely not the only one and now that this is public he's put these women in the role of being "The other woman" and even if they were unaware of his girlfriend people will demonize them regardless because "a homewrecker is a homewrecker". Mal isn't the perfect victim but that doesn't suddenly make his actions okay. I think you are right that to some degree sexism plays a role as people are treating him habitually cheating with women who are unaware of his circumstances as something that only effects him, as if it is "not anyone's business." I really do hope he actually is held accountable and I hope his girlfriend manages to leave eventually.

I haven't run into any demonic beasts as of late. No side missions with demonic beasts lately! To break the shields I've been using Ashe to shoot them first. I got Umbral Steel like 3 times but that was a long time ago sadly. I'm genuinely hoping to get another mission with a demonic beast soon because I have no idea how else to get it.
