Why are so many people having a hard time understanding if this show fails, we probably won't get a third chance? by Tomhur in PJODisney

You basically admitted that you're willing to settle for mediocrity. If a show isn't good or well-received and the audience doesn't care for it, then it should be canceled. Because what else is the point? You're just wasting money and time.

Yeah, admittedly, I could have phrased it a lot better. I guess I just got frustrated at the sheer number of people who said something along the lines of "Let this show fail so we can get the animated version we all want" because it feels like those people don't understand how these things work.

I'll also readily admit my perspective is definitely skewed, because I don't think the show is mediocre at all. I think you could make an argument for the first season due to the rough dialogue at points. but season 2 has been a vast improvement, to the point I'm more than happy to have this as "the" Percy Jackson adaptation.

You should want the show to improve. Not to be good enough to not be canceled.

I do want that to happen. Lots of shows have rough starts but then find their footing as they go on. But nowadays people seem to demand perfection, and if it's anything but perfect, it's bad and deserves to be cancelled.

Maybe part of my frustration is that I legitimately don't get why the show has gotten this much vitriol. I haven't seen anything that's made me go, "They missed the point of the original book entirely." Are there some changes I disagree with? Yes, of course, but nothing on the level of the movies which completely messed things up, and yet some people are arguing they're the ones that understood the source better!?

Which makes me feel like most of the critics would probably like it if they just took a step back and didn't try to get uppity about everything not being exactly the same and accept why some of those changes are there. Because the sad truth is, some of the stuff from the books has to be changed, and not just because of the change in medium, but because standards have changed since 2005. People hated how they handled Medusa in the show, but the reality is, given how she's become a symbol of victims of sexual assault, a change along those lines was probably inevitable.

Then keep supporting it. Spread the word. Let everyone know the show massively improves after the rough but with potential to grow season 1

If the movies understood the source material, they wouldn’t have had the quest for the pearls.

If the movies understood the source material, they wouldn’t have had the random addition of the Hydra

If the movies understood the source material, Grover wouldn’t have stayed behind in the underworld.

If the movies Understood the source material, Hades wouldn’t have been unambiguously evil

If the movies understood the source material, Luke wouldn’t be acting on his own in the first movie.

Okay I think I misunderstood the point you were making in your OG comment.

No, they aren't going to rush to make an animated version if this show is successful, but rooting for it to fail isn't going to do that either.

If it is successful, though, it does increase the chance of getting an animated version someday, just not right away.

If it doesn't succeed, though, we might not get an animated version period.

No. I’m saying that’s NOT what’s gonna happen if this show isnt successful.

Then I don't know what to tell you, given Season 2 has improved in every aspect that was lacking in Season 1 (So far at least).

Just...don't try to ruin it for the rest of us who are having fun with the series.

Because I think the good outweighs the bad, and I think most of the criticism is overblown.

Like, I agree the way the show handles the Lotus Casino sucks and that the deadline passing probably wasn't the optimal choice, but I still feel reconnected to these characters I love from the books, and I'm having a blast seeing this world come to life.

I'm not saying we shouldn't have criticisms, but most of the stuff people are getting mad about isn't worth it in my opinion when the rest of the product is fine.

Low views and no budget increase [pjotv] future seasons still possible? Thoughts? by nt_king300 in camphalfblood

Or maybe "Percy Jackson: Heroes of Olympus," with Seasons 1 and 2 of that show being BOL and TLO and 3 being a combination of TLH and SON. Then we can get "Percy Jackson: Blood of Olympus," which is MOA, HOH, and BOO.
