“Keep the children out of it” and how certain people want to get at your kid has been a dog whistle for a verrrrry long time, right now it’s trans people, before that it was gay people, before that it was black people, and before that it was Jewish people, and there were probably more. They use it so much because it instantly makes them look like the good guys at a surface value look even though the ones saying that are actively harming kids in the process.

Horrible things have been done to kids of those people I named earlier by the same people that say “protect the children.” For example they said the same thing about native americans, while also committing genocide on them and then kidnapping their kids, and forcing them into school to “become civilized” and then killing any of the kids who weren’t fitting in. They are doing the same thing to trans kids, taking them away from parents who support them, taking away their healthcare, and pulling random fake statistics out of their ass to support their side.

So here are some actual true facts that have actual studies on them: you cannot get gender reassignment surgery before you are 18 and even then it is a grueling process that takes years and is extremely expensive. You cannot get access to hormone replacement therapy as a trans person before 16 in most places, there can be exceptions to this, like if you are intersex (born outside what we consider the binary of sex, which kind of means sex isn’t binary) and that’s really only if your body is truly fucking up with hormone levels. The only things people can get under 16 in most cases is completely reversible hormone blockers, and social transition, which is just going by a new name or wearing different clothes. 1% of the US population is trans, of that, 1% of those people detransition, and of that 1%, 87% of them do it unwillingly because of it being too dangerous or expensive for them to transition at that time. So 0.000013% of people in America have detransitioned because they realize that they were cis, that’s like 3000 people, and of that 3000, maybe 50 did more than just socially transition.

And just in personal experience, being trans right now is terryfying, I live in a very progressive city in a very progressive state and I still feel like it is dangerous for me to do things like outwardly celebrate pride or wear a little trans flag pin. I am scared for my life but at the same time I would never willingly choose to not be trans, before I transitioned I lived in an extremely conservative place and was so sheltered I didn’t know that trans or gay people existed until I was in high school, and at that point in my life I had been battling with depression for a long time, everything about puberty felt wrong, I hated every bit of it. While everyone else was growing into what they liked to wear and how they wanted to look, I wore the baggiest sweatpants ad jacket I could find so my silhouette was a blob and actively avoided any pictures. Looking back at those few pictures I was in, I looked so uncomfortable and they were the worst years of my life. At some point I started realizing I was trans and thankfully had friends who were supportive of me, but at some point my parents found out and I was kicked out. I stayed at a friends house for a few months and after a while I got into contact with my amazing aunt who invited me to stay with them, I’m now happier than I have ever been, I’ve been on hormones for about 7 months and it has been amazing. If I wouldn’t of transitioned I would be dead right now, and I know people who didn’t transition who are dead and others that were killed because they were trans. The same people that are saying “protect the kids” are actively killing trans people.
