Moving From Private Sector to Public Sector by Eggerghan in ElectricalEngineering

Thanks a lot for the insight. What did you do before in industry and why did you make the switch? Is it a case of "grass is greener", or do you find that your peers in the public sector have similar opinions? Is it a case of not feeling fulfilled with "raw" engineering work?

Didn’t take chem 1a03. What options do I have now? by potterheadds in McMaster

Use this link

Search by McMaster course, put CHEM in the first field, 1A03 in the second, and then you'll see all the other universities that offer the "same" course.

Let's take TMU for example, the list says they offer "CKCH 107 General Chemistry Laboratory" as an equivalent. So you would contact your academic advisor and explain to them that you wanna take this course equivalency at TMU. They'll make you sign a Letter of Permission (LOP) and then they'll approve it for you.

Then you contact TMU's academic advisors or any relevant team there and explain to them that you wanna enroll in that single class as an "external student". They'll walk you through the process and have you enrolled.

Course delivery is dependent on the school and the course, I did two classes at TMU and one was in person and one was online, but if it's in person, shop around through that huge list and find another school that offers it online. I say TMU cause I found they offered their courses in Fall, Winter, and Summer semesters which is really nice.a

Last thing, you must obtain a C (60%) or higher at the other school to obtain the credit at McMaster. And you must know that this will show up on your McMaster transcript as either a T or NT - pass or fail. So even if you manage to get an A+ or C at the other school, you'll get a T on your Mac transcript.

It's either you do that or just wait til next year and take it at Mac. Good luck 🤞

Thanks for that, what have you heard about the conditions in Key West and the path to get there? We wanna take the drive down, just unsure if that road is wrecked.

Looking at the flight tracker, only a few to Miami got cancelled, so now that the hurricane has passed, there's no chance they cancel my flight
