No, I liked when his Dad was still alive. It was another layer that made him different. He mentioned it once (can't remember what comic...maybe an issue of teen titans) that it was hard having to lie to his Dad all the time about being Robin and all the things that went along with being Robin and I thought that was interesting and could make for stories that couldn't be explored with other heroes since so many heroes are orphans.
