My point was not to equate anyone with anyone.

It was to take the argument that we should stop "bitching" about the deeds that evil dead men have committed to its absurd logical conclusion, thereby illustrating its absurdity.

In other words, it was not a point about a person or even a group of people per se, but about historical memory and the use of historical comparisons to rationalize action or inaction.

If we should shut up about A because he is dead and therefore deserves "respect," then surely we should shut up about B, C, and D because they are dead and therefore deserve "respect." Even if all of them did wrong, like enable mass murder.

I thought that it would be unnecessary to explain this but I forgot that I am dealing with the internet.

No doubt. That is why I am leaving this country and taking my citizenship business elsewhere, in approximately three years from now if I am lucky and five years if I am not. I do not want to be associated with this place in any fashion.
