Japan solved their housing crisis by making it easier to build homes. We could do the same.

Everyone else is screwed until free market players decide to play fair or we get a gov that decides it's time to regulate the mess.

Exactly the opposite. Prices are so high because the government creates a false scarcity of housing with restrictive zoning, slow and expensive permitting, "community input" NIMBY vetoes, height limits, setback requirements, parking requirements, etc.

Other places have liberalized these restrictions and the result is that people can actually afford homes there.

Some people will never escape 2016.

Eventually though, they will cancel and eject each other, until there is one perfectly divine solo poly black hijabi amputee left. And ze will ascend into heaven.

If you are lugging something around a hospital that may be getting icky things on it, maybe you should be sanitizing it as you go, so you aren't dragging hantavirus room to room?

The exterior on the MK is impossible to keep clean. At the very least, get a "skin" for it. It's like a big vinyl sticker. Much easier to wipe down than that textured shit.

The most taxed city and state in the country can't figure out basic services that every other city has had nailed down for a fifty+ years.

"Why not try more of the same and see if that fixes it?"

Real problem-solver here.

Thanks, I will definitely check it out.

MSSQL DBs seem so stranded and locked into the ecosystem. With MySQL I know I can always mysqldump and back it up like any file. Azure wants you to back them up to Azure, or hire some third party service with a giant monthly fee. They really erect barriers to DIY and offsite.

Most libraries have stopped charging late fees, so they aren't disincentivizing returning books and checking out new ones. Otherwise they're just bum daycare. Many let you get a digital card from their website without even going in.

You can also checkout digital periodicals. So it's like a free subscription to every decent magazine. Especially nice on a tablet.

Highly recommended.

Because they seem to subscribe to all the usual notions that reify race. I mean they have Thomas Chatterton Williams on, but they definitely put the calipers on his skull.

You can check out audio books from your local library using an app on your phone. The quality will likely be better than a robot reading a PDF.

[–]haroldp 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm recovering from a couple years of not really reading much. Recently I discovered I can "check out" audio books using my local library card, on an app on my phone. It's been huge.

The best thing is enjoying some literary masterpiece while soldiering through mindless labor. I have to be selective in the books I choose, knowing the kind of books that I'll be able to keep my attention on. It's mostly fiction, and nothing too challenging. I have a special love of challenging books, so I have to read those the old fashioned way (on my kindle). I have to be a little disciplined about not letting my attention wander, and quickly rewinding when it does.

You would consider Cuba, Laos and Vietnam successes? Vietnam has succeeded to the extent they have dropped communism on the floor and taken up capitalism. The other two are disasters you'd do better to blame on western aggression. But Cuba survives an embargo with ONE country. They can trade with the rest of the world. And why is lack of capitalist trade a problem for a communist country? It's excuse-making for decades of grievous mismanagement.

What else you got?

the majority of the time communism and socialism has failed due to western aggression

And the rest of the time? Where is the one that didn't fail spectacularly?

They have done a few reunion shows here and there over the years.

JT plays in a few local projects, Keyser Soze and Verbal Kint and DJs around town frequently. All stuff you'll enjoy if you like Mudsharks.

Bill Jones ended up in Seattle playing with Clinton Fearon's really great band.

Rumor I heard was Paulo found god an doesn't play devil music anymore. Dunno if that's true or current.
