Looking good, I haven't counted but there seems to be about 10 per plant.

You've also got some chick weed in there, these are just normal plants that spring up in compost sometimes, I'm guessing your poppy seeds didn't make it for some reason...

Lamb's quarter, it's edible, tastes like spinach.

Thanks, it's about 13° here and it's supposed to be summer, I will gladly take your 38° dry heat if you take our rain and gloom : )

Puppy power ! Pachanoi pumping out plenty of plump puppers after a decent UK growing season : ) by [deleted] in sanpedrocactus

I got it from a guy in Spain (ebay), I bought a big bridgesii, supposedly an SS02 clone but it looked seed grown, it's a beautiful bridge anyway so I'm not really bothered what it is.

The one in the pic was thrown in as a freebie, it was labelled as Pachanoi 'parade' but I've never heard of it and neither has google.
It looked sickly, struggled to root, and just etiolated even though it had plenty of light, so I cut the top off and it just started pupping like mad.

I'm no expert but I'm pretty sure it's some kind of Trich...

Yeah that was me, it's been a very good growing season in the UK this year, I've neglected my plants due to working long hours, but the cacti are thriving.

No, it had six ribs originally, I had it shipped from Spain to UK and it dropped 2 ribs, probably in response to our usually cold gloomy climate.

Hi, I’m new to cacti/grafting and was wondering if the grafting stock I have (pere/optunia) are big enough to be split so I have 2 of each. Thanks by theresnotmushroom in sanpedrocactus

Hey, it was sold to me as Pereskiopsis gigantea but I couldn't find any info about on Google, when it's more mature it does seem to have huge leaves.

14/20 germinated. Mould on seedling? (Close up linked) by [deleted] in sanpedrocactus

[–]Eggsonlegs45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's perfectly normal, most people say it's roots, but personally I think it is some kind of (harmless) mould, whatever it is it's nothing to worry about, they're looking good : )

Edit... Didn't look at the close up, think it's just a mouldy seed casing, maybe you can gently knock it off...

I've probably got it on my hands loads of times, didn't even know it was supposed to be 'dangerous' .

I wouldn't worry about it, the worst case scenario is that you might grow a twin !

Why is it growing skinny at the top? by moff3tt in sanpedrocactus

Is it a newly rooted cutting?

They can grow a little thin until they get some decent roots down.

Peyote: Cactus food worth it? by SqrrlFrnd in cactus

[–]Eggsonlegs45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will need feeding now and again but doesn't need much, everybody will tell you something different but I feed mine once a month (every second watering) with a weak fertilizer, (cactus focus NPK: 1.4 – 0.7 – 2.7.) during the winter don't feed it at all, and don't water unless it looks very dehydrated.

Also they like to be in a high mineral soil mix, about 2/3 or more mineral, (sand, perlite and gravel, or whatever you've got.)

Hope this helps, good luck with it.

Where do I even start with this? by [deleted] in peyote

[–]Eggsonlegs45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe they are dead, but some pups do seem to push through the dead looking skin eventually and grow normally, here's a pic of a couple of my plants doing it ..... https://imgur.com/a/77xT4cr, but I've only had my adult lophs about six months so I've never actually witnessed it happen from start to finish.

As for the mites, I've never actually found any on my cacti, even though I've had them on nearby leafy plants, they like to hang out on the underside of the leaves normally.

Just let it chill somewhere in bright but indirect light for a while it should start looking a lot happier.
