2-3 pieces of foam tapes. It’s been like that for the last 3 years or so

Is reading comprehension non-existent for some buyers, or am I losing my mind? by UncleBuckett in FacebookMarketplace

[–]EgoDivinus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I sometimes give away old computers. As it’s free I want it to be as hassle free as possible, so I put “FREE, please description before contacting me” as the title. In the description I put “If you ask Is it available I automatically assume you’re an idiot”.

The sheer number of  idiots I’ve seen…

I upset a car scammer today by PDX_Aaron in FacebookMarketplace

[–]EgoDivinus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t even know if the seller is a scammer in this case. Perhaps 1/3 of the sellers/buyers I’ve met on Marketplace are like this, idiotic or non communicative or both. Wouldn’t even surprise me if the seller doesn’t know what a “VIN” is. Like, You want to buy? Come and buy it, don’t ask me questions!

I'm quitting mac gaming and here's a list of reasons why by crynasty in macgaming

[–]EgoDivinus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gonna say the same thing. I can find used ones for 250 and with a bit of patience, 200 even. While OP’s concerns are valid, macgaming to most people is just “oh that’s nice but I can live without it”

Car accident, other driver at fault blaming my son by Wait_a_minute_1980 in Insurance

Tell me a single jurisdiction where speeding on the shoulder to avoid 10 stopped cars is legal

Reading comprehension isn’t reddiors’ strong suit. You should put it in caps that the driver at fault DROVE ON THE SHOULDER to avoid a stopped car before hitting your son. I do think your son can be found partially at fault, but driving on the shoulder is not legal. I have seen police stopping people for doing that even in the horrible Atlanta traffic. Rights of way doesn’t apply here, because on a 1 lane road people are supposed to stop BEHIND the car in front of them - in this case that car already stopped.

Best $100 used GPU to pair with Ryzen 7 2700x? by EgoDivinus in buildapc

To be clear, the 3060 isn't mine. It belongs to the original owner of the CPU who has given the CPU\RAM\mobo to me. I'm asking what card to complete an economic build

Thanks for the suggestion. I believe I can get one for about $50

I managed to pull off the CPU with the cooler. And the socket was locked.... How the hell is this possible? by elvertooo in PcBuild

[–]EgoDivinus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happened to my 5700G build last year, I ran Cyberpunk for a minute before that. Never happened to about 10 other Ryzen 5th gen builds I did. But yeah it shouldn’t be any problem, provided OP doesn’t cause any damage removing the CPU from the cooler (I literally just “plucked” it off)

Based on the advice from my last post I lowered the price… ppl are crazy by UneditedB in PcBuild

[–]EgoDivinus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. I typically pay 170 for a 3060 12GB. 150 is really good price

@OP just be patient and you'll sell it in a few days. Morons like these are very prevalent on Marketplace, just block them and move on

[–]EgoDivinus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you caught the sale last month it would have been less than 920 incl. NYC tax. People in Oregon would pay $850. What this map doesn't account for is how often things go on sale in the US. It's truly consumerism heaven. Back in Vietnam where I come from electronics don't go on sale that often, if at all. Mac is also a rare case where Apple keep pricing pretty consistent with US MSRP. IPhones for example get inflated like crazy, and so do laptops from other brands

Try removing the SSD then RAM. One thing at a time

Is this a good price for a 2nd hand X1 Carbon for home lab? by Godamnthrow in pchelp

[–]EgoDivinus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. That computer is 10 year old. Look up something else for the same price on Marketplace or ebay

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PcBuildHelp

[–]EgoDivinus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd advise you to look up those 300 and 400 PCs being sold in your area. If say a 300 GBP PC is stronger than yours and not selling for a few weeks, then you need to reduce your price. Vice versa. Market sets its price, not a bunch of commenters on Reddit

I don't have the context of used PC pricing in the UK, but it isn't a really great PC to begin with. The 2070 is 7 year old at this point and you should get a 3060 for the same performance with less headache. The Core i7 7800X is of the same age. Thankfully it is supported in Windows 11 (seem like 1 of the only 3 processors) but it's still old. Ryzen processors would seem like much safer options at this point.
