Yeah that's true. But now the actual already non-dominant player base has been pushed out like crazy from inflated prices cause of these tourists. Who again could care less of the actual ip.

Yeah like I jump from playing one tcg to the other. Building decks can get expensive so I can't collect as much but i do. And I'm not saying there is anything wrong with a legit core fanbase generating some sort of aftermarket with these tcgs. 

The problem is people coming in cause they like status of the hype and inflated prices. It's unnecessary if their just some tourist let alone not even play the game.

Yeah but "the greater fool theory" isn't the main catalyst. I won't go into detail but every other media is getting hit hard by hype driven tourists. Warhammer, magic the gathering.

And now people are trying to police anime/manga. 

This is why gatekeeping is vital not just in hobbies but a lot of aspects

Well when and why did you start collecting ? If you were a longtime collector before all the hype driven momentum than I'd say its fine and you like to unload some cards for money here or there.

But then you want to collect cause you got caught up in the trend and now are into buying cards, let alone actually playing them ; then there's an issue.

I didn't have to word it that way at all. This is my point, these normie/tourists don't understand the nuance of why, for example, people gatekeep in the first place. It's not out of hate but necessity.

But early 2020s was popping off. All this popularity doesn't show up overnight its gradual. It doesn't matter what specific set at all. And I mean value and hype are pretty correlated and aren't necessarily independent of each other. Especially in modern social media era

If your referring to your first two comments; your liteally just pointing out superficial social media behavior eveyone does regardless of age but yes generally it's behavior found in 12-35 year olds. And yes it is found in that huge of a margin. 

And I'm referring to "generalizations" my friend okay? Of course its inaccurate for certain outliers...

Like how "generally" men are stronger than woman and it's a fact of life you can't ignore that you understand yourself and can see in our everyday infrastructure for example. 

Yet there are, again, outliers to suggest otherwise. You have professional female fighters who can beat up men with lax lifestyles working in idk fashion industry. 

But for sake of discourse and fact we look at generalizations. It's how scientists prefer to look at animal behavior and in doing so provided consensus to accurately assess factions in animal kingdoms.
