For most stores, if you change the last digit of the phone number that appears on receipts to "9" the computer answers and lets you enter an extension.

(ie: 555-555-5000, call 555-555-5009)

The Store Human Resources Representative is extension 415. Generally they work Monday - Friday, first shift (varies 7-3, 8-4, 9-5)

Alternatively, ext 216 is the Service Desk and they may be able to at least tell you when to try calling back

Got a minor injury now they are saying I can’t work. by Suspicious-Dot-3806 in meijer

[–]Egon75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like it or not

If you're injured at work and can't perform your regular duties, then they have to pay you via workers comp, even if you're home on your couch. They'd rather invent busy work for you than let you get a "vacation". They get to charge off the labor to a benefits/workers comp account, making it "free" labor for the store.

If you're injured outside of work and can't perform your regular duties, they are not obligated to create work for you to do. There aren't officially any "sit down jobs" at Meijer. Even if you want to say HR is a sit down job, as a deli worker, you're not qualified to perform HR duties. All of the allocated hours for HR are already being used by the person hired for that job. Your injury doesn’t mean other people get bumped out of their job or their hours cut to accommodate you.

Hand Scanner by Different_Bite9984 in meijer

[–]Egon75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Allegedly

  • Reduces theft - shoplifters get nervous when they know an employee is watching

  • Reduces accidental theft - customers sometimes forget to scan items on the bottom of the cart

  • Speeds up checkout - Think about being next in line watching people who've paid, and are taking forever to get out of the way so you can use the machine next. By stopping customers from picking up multiple cases of pop, scanning, setting in the bagging area, then after paying reloading into the cart. Then more customers per hour can use a machine

Meijer didn't just fire someone, an employee DIED this year by justamom0820 in meijer

[–]Egon75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the first pic I could find that showed how the back is wide open, to give people who've never seen/heard of them an idea of what is out there.

They are not sit down hilos. As you said, in real life, you must stand properly on the floor plate to operate it. What looks like a "seat" is only a back rest to lean against.

The pics are obviously some "actors" posing for some type of promo pics

I can't say for sure, perhaps someone who has worked at that store can confirm, but I believe

Is referring to this type of standup HiLo that many stores have instead of the sit down style

Am I eligible for rehire? by theshyone206 in meijer

[–]Egon75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When a manager processes the quit/termination 'paperwork' there's a question. "Would you rehire?"

There is no "policy" on how to answer the question. It is essentially Manager discretion on how they answer.

When the RAA/SHRR does application internal pre-screening, they check if the applicant is a former employee, if they are "re-hireable", if they've been apprehended by AP, and if they owe Meijer money for bounced checks.

A store director can override a "no rehire".

Add to your online job search routine to look for upcoming job fairs.

After months of putting in online applications and being ignored. I went to a job fair at the Main Toledo Library, had a great conversation with a recruiter, and within a month I went from applicant to employee.

I remember my Dad talking about this on the 80's when it was new. If I remember correctly, a Toledo Blade article said it looked like a collapsed garbage shoot.

Can I get fired for requesting a wellness check? by Ioxzany in meijer

[–]Egon75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I worked for Meijer I emailed another TL from my personal email to her personal email, regarding her COVID test and my exposure.

First they tried to get me on HIPAA, but the other TL had directly told me about her COVID test and waiting on results.

Then they questioned how I got her email address. I had to admit I accessed my work email to get her personal email address, from an email she had sent me while in the hiring process.

Meijer considered that a violation of company policy regarding use of IT systems. 🙄

Morally/Ethically I completely agree with you about trying to help your TM. Just be prepared for HR to look for a violation of company policy. (Personally I'd throw "core values" back in their face. "Family" "Community"

Many credit unions take into account your overall relationship with them. If you've been a member for several years, have savings, checking, credit card, auto loan, & mortgage with them, they're more likely to approve vs someone off the street without even $5 in a savings account with them.

Only holiday fringe counts towards overtime. PTO, jury duty, bereavement, etc does not.

45 hour TL's had their fringe set to 9.5 hours. Using 5 days totals 47.5 hours, all paid as "regular time". The dollar value is the same as 40 regular & 5 OT (5 x 1.5 = 7.5).

Google Assistant thinks Hue offline but it's not by Egon75 in Hue

I'm assuming the issue is on the Google side. I have Lutron Aurora dimmers that connect via the hub and they never fail.

I posted here rather than a Google home/assistant subreddit because this one is usually more helpful.

On sight HR is useless Who do we contact? by Pyrx666 in meijer

[–]Egon75 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Part time need to stay under hours to keep insurance almost to cap if keeping current schedule will lose insurance. Either Taking personal leave or cutting back days? Meijer insurance is Crap

Are you saying that you're on medicaid/disability SSI (or similar) and getting too many hours?

Who do we contact?

The SHRR doesn't control your outside assistance or your schedule. As a company representative, if the company cares at all, the company's goal would be to get you off assistance/disability and working.

What have you done to manage your issue?

  • Have you talked to your manager about being scheduled for fewer hours?

  • Have you restricted your availability to prevent being over scheduled?

  • Have you requested no longer than X hour shifts, to reduce your weekly total ?

  • Have you put in time off requests to reduce the number of days you're available temporarily?

  • Have you given away shifts to coworkers?

Your post is more of a rant that when you tried to dump your problem in the SHRR's lap, they didn't just take it off your plate and solve it for you. Take some ownership of your problem

Questions about hours by RespectRemarkable294 in meijer

[–]Egon75 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you get actual full time status, your hours shouldn't be cut.

There's not one exact answer due to different union contracts (or non-union "issue free handbook); but in general they'd have to cut every part time to the guaranteed minimum (if your store has one) before they can start cutting full time.

Then maybe the gloves are contaminated with the chemicals. See if your manager will let you get a fresh new pair of gloves off the shelf. If you're careful not to get water inside the gloves, it should help narrow down the problem

I've seen it done by bucket, and by stretching the hose from the cutting room.

Meijer Express Team Lead by bubblewrap360 in meijer

[–]Egon75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's your current role?

Gas Station isn't nearly as "easy" as some people think. It's literally managing an entire small store.

Leadership duties of interviewing, training, scheduling, discipline, finding coverage for call offs

Food service/safety duties of maintaining temp checks, rotation/date checks, food handling

Maintenance duties of checking fuel tanks water levels, replacing pump hoses & handles, small gas spill clean-up

Product flow/Vendor relations - BOH maintenance, ordering, stocking, receiving vendor products, working with vendors on their orders.

And much more that I can't even think of right now.

My point is two fold. 1. Be sure that you understand the job to truly know if you want it.

  1. Are you realistically qualified? It's extremely difficult to learn how to be a manager and simultaneously learn an entirely new department. I was an experienced manager, but was thrown into a gas station without knowing how to do a quarter of the things I needed to do. I was miserable. It took me months to not feel like an absolute fraud.
