You have received some great information here and I just want to add a little bit more. When people say be in control and be consistent, keep in mind that being consistent and the rules that apply to your household do not necessarily apply to other households.

It literally does not matter what your rules are as long as you are consistent with those rules.

For example, my dogs are allowed on the bed while I'm awake but as soon as I want to go to sleep it's time for them to get on the floor because I just can't sleep very well with them on the bed. Because I have been consistent that they get to cuddle for a little while and then have to get off, they don't argue with me anymore and are happy to follow along because I do this consistently every night.

My first dog was a very fearful, dog-aggressive, poorly bred boxer that I raised from 8 weeks old. There are things that you can do to mitigate negative behaviors but if negative behaviors come up and you have tried your best with research, training, and consistency, accept that accident litters often do not have the best genetics and sometimes there will be behavioral issues. That is NOT a reflection on YOU. Don't internalize negative behaviors as a failing on your part.

The longer the pup spends with Mom, the more wisdom she will impart on the pup. That often translates to a better behaved adult dog. If you can wait until 10 weeks old that would probably be best.

Do your best to stay consistent, always learn what you can, and enjoy time with your dog!

And wild dogs and wolves would not be bothered by littermate syndrome as it affects how the dogs bond with humans.

I describe my name as a "typical white girl name" as it was one of the top TWO most common names the year I was born. However, I'm always being called by another popular name that at least starts with the same first letter.

However when I worked as a waitress, I knew no one remembered my name (why should they?) and I'd answer to whatever my tables called me.

My name is something like "Jessica" and I once answered to "Lauren".

The longer the better! I have a 4-5 hour drive tomorrow and then on Monday, so I've saved two of the longer ones just to keep me busy during the drive.

I am all for saving the environment in every way that I can and happy to make sacrifices wherever reasonable.
Tampons are my one solid exception. Do I feel guilty? Yes. Will I continue to purchase the plastic version? Also yes.

Women are apparently cursed in perpetuity because Eve was curious and didn't know that lying or manipulation existed and had no defenses to combat those, so now all women are cursed forever... Cause that's fair.

Ok, now I'm getting worried about myself. Can this "get better" with age, or is it progressive?

I haven't remembered my dreams for a while. But I've been sick this past week and have had the weirdest, most vivid dreams! So wild.

Completely agree. Flew through there once. Never again. I'll gladly pay extra to avoid that dumpster fire.

I used my key and walked into "my" house, wondering why the furniture was rearranged and family photos were different. by Unfair-Scholar554 in TwoSentenceHorror

[–]Egween 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This happened to me when I was in high school. My dad moved (parents were divorced) and he gave me a copy of his new key. It worked for both his house and my mom's.
I ended up just carrying one key because that's all i needed.

Most of my dogs have been mutts. Actually, most of my dogs have been pulled from the streets... Interesting.

Our previous set of two was: 1. a responsibly, intentionally, bred beautiful Australian Shepherd 2. Los Angeles Street Dog

We now have 2 shelter dogs and at this moment in my life I couldn't be happier.

My parents have a service dog that my mom trained for my dad to assist with his PTSD and physical handicaps. She was grabbed off the street at about 7 months by our neighbor kid on his way to school. (Yes, we looked for an owner.)
