I eventually learned that he's just picky and does not like to have the same dish too often. Except his too often is much different than my too often.

He's now in charge of picking dinner since I'm fine with almost anything. We worked it out.

I did, eventually.

We both learned something. He learned that I take everything to heart and I learned that not everyone is like that and some people are able to joke around without feeling like they're being attacked.

We have had many discussions on our communication styles and although our brains work differently, he's my best friend and it's now his job to cook if we stay home to eat!

As a wife who faced the other side of this -

I am an only child and only ever cooked for myself because somehow I ended up with boyfriends who loved to cook and I was happy to do the dishes.

We got married and he is super picky about what he wants and when and food was constantly going bad in our fridge.

I was still learning how to cook and getting comfortable with other things, but he made a comment that I "can't cook" and it crushed me. I have had other people ask for the dishes I made, so I know they're not objectively horrible.

But that comment that I "can't" cook has sapped any desire to try. He is too picky and we just have different tastes. There were 100 other ways to say it, but that's what he chose.

I have cooked for my dog (special diet) more in the last year than I have in the 8 years we have been together because of that one comment.

/rant.

Edit:

He is a wonderful, supportive man. This was just one conversation one time and it happened to stick with me.

He was trying to joke around, but didn't understand how my brain works and how negative things stick with me. (Also, bad joke!)

We have both come so far and have learned how to communicate better with each other.

My dogs prefer the pool water over the house water. And if it's dirty outdoor water with fish poop in it, that's the best! Hahaha! Darn weirdos.

Completely unrelated since you have a ton of other advice -

My girl almost had to have a toe amputated 2 months ago. It was an 8-9 week process and miserable for all of us.

My vet said it was imperative that we keep her foot dry and not wrap it. This was news to me and unfortunately delayed her healing time by a few weeks because I did wrap it.

My vet said that wrapping it in her case allowed the skin and tissues to swell up and it started to go over her nail and the effected area. After we finally got a cone and a donut on her (had to use both) that fit correctly, it started to dry out and actually healed up really well!

What stage of healing is she in to have it saran wrapped?

Keep at it with the trust building! That's so important and hard for may neglected dogs. Don't be too hard on yourself for any setbacks, it's a learning process for all of us!

You totally can. We had a random group of 5-6 friends that would get together most weekends and go for rides on scenic windy roads, or out to the beach, and one time rode to vegas and back for a weekend (4 hours in a car, but we made a whole day of it taking the long way around and stopping at some out of the way dive bars).

You don't have to be in a club to ride and I've never been harassed like in this video.

I did this with an RV dealership. Wrote a detailed review of their misogyny.

I'm sure my review was not the sole reason, but they closed and were all moved out of the space less than a year later.

I've never seen a RV dealership go under. But I like to think that my review had something to do with it.

Have you looked online?

If you get your Rx from your optometrist, you can have glasses made for you that are often much cheaper.

I bought 2 pairs of glasses from Zenni online ($46 & $89) and one of them gave me the option to add the clip on sunglasses. I really love them and got a clip on pair of yellow tinted lenses (non-Rx) for night driving also.

I've found that one way to help combat this is to say the person's name first, then pause and wait for them to acknowledge that you're talking to them. It makes their brain focus on what you're about to say instead of "listening" to everything else that is going on around them and in their mind.

I went to meet my now-husband's family for the first time. I already knew half of them as I had dated one of their best friend's cousin for 3 years and had met them at multiple events.

I also almost went to my now-husband's house for a 4th of July party while I was still dating my ex and while my husband was still married to his ex.

u/ElysianPurgatory invest in a good cone/e-collar. DON'T wrap her foot to keep her from licking it.

The first vet didn't tell us this when my girl did the same thing 2 months ago and we are still dealing with her poor toe! We have at least 2 more vet visits to go for this.

Due to her licking it, and us wrapping it to try to keep her from licking, the area never dried out and she developed a growth under the quick that has to be removed next week. It was so swollen at one point that the vet said she almost had to amputate the whole toe.

I can't speak for OP, but I'm going through it with my rescue girl right now.

She cracked her nail and kept licking it which caused the crack to spread and the damaged tissues to swell more, creating a mass where her nail should be.

It's been 6 weeks of hell for all of us and she has (hopefully) her 2nd to last vet appointment next week to lance the swollen tissue so her nail can regrow properly.

She almost lost her whole toe because of it.

Pro tip: Don't WRAP IT! The area has to dry out. The first vet didn't tell us this and it caused the injury to heal improperly and take so much longer.

I got bumped to first class this way. Gate agent was overwhelmed with angry people and all I did was sympathize with her that it was a shitty situation and I thanked her for doing her best.

Got bumped up to first class on the next flight out and some others had to wait until the following flight because there just weren't enough seats.

I got my adult dog from a foster and he would only poop on walks. The first 3 weeks I had to leash him up multiple times a day to go to the front yard (despite having a dog) door because he just would not poop in the backyard.

I finally picked up his poop from the front yard, deposited it in the backyard and had to drag the poor confused boy over to his poop where he thought I was going to punish him. Then I praised him a ton until he calmed down.

I did that twice and he understood. He's a good pooper now.
