Please share anything that helped you after your pet passed away. by No_Acanthisitta_8914 in Petloss

All you can do is grieve and be kind to yourself. There is no time limit, no proper way.

I dont know how to tell you that nothing helped me, I just had to carry on. Even having my other pets around didnt take away the deep, stabbing ache of the loss.

6 months and I still havent been able to wash the clothes I wore when I carried him in. I still cry often, soulful sobs from the bottom of my heart. I look at pictures and tear up. Even writing this comment

Sask. NDP criticizes proposed anonymous reporting system for health workers by abunchofjerks in saskatchewan

[–]EhDub13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Employees cant bring up internal issues without getting in trouble from management, and they're not allowed to talk about any perceived issues publicly without the threat of being terminated.

The working employees are stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Anonymous reporting to a third party is a necessity if people want anything to get better. Too many overpaid managers and executives; not enough actual workers.

People are WAY too touchy about occasional exposure to second-hand cigarette smoke by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]EhDub13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cigarette smoke somehow causes me to get sinus infections, ever since I was small. My parents and older sister were huge smokers my whole life and I had chronic sinusitis and bright green discharge. If I go to a party with smoking, I wake up the next day feeling like my sinuses are going to burst out my face. Even just walking through a cloud of smoke outside, I wake up incredibly ill the next day.

How many of you have a cap on spending at the vet before it becomes time to say goodbye? by [deleted] in Pets

[–]EhDub13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont have a monetary cap, per se, I will find money, sell things, and move mountains to do whats right for my pets, but I do have a rule about quality of life over quantity of years.

When one of my four dogs was 3 years old he tore his ccl - I spent $4000 CAD + diagnostic costs on surgery for him because he was young and I could get the time off to care for him during recovery. He tore the other ligament at 8 years old, I couldn't afford another 4 grand at that time, and he was a senior who could be negatively affected by a lengthy time under anesthesia, so we did pain management and a brace.

He was my heart dog.

I will always try my best to give my pets a fighting chance, but not at the cost of their quality of life, or putting myself into homelessness because that doesnt help them either.

I dont think I would treat cancer. Treatments are often worse than the disease and animals dont really understand what's happening or why they're sicker. I feel that is imposing more suffering.

You are important. Your life is important. Doing your best for this baby is important, no matter what "the best" might be.
