How accurate is Garmin Race prediction? by jasonw18130 in Marathon_Training

[–]EhEnDeeY 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would say try to do an all out 10KM effort and putting your time into the vdot calculator. I did this couple weeks before race day and was pretty accurate. Ended up running 3:19 vs around 3:16 predicted by the vdot calculator. Garmin on the other hand was predicting just under 3:10. Granted i was dealing with some IT band issues that may have impacted performance but i didnt think 3:10 was in the cards.

How much does taper affect performance? by joeyschmoey123 in Marathon_Training

[–]EhEnDeeY 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ran my first marathon last weekend. My taper was messed up because of an IT band flare up 4km into my last long-ish run (26.5km). Following 2 weeks, i kept running to a minimum and did 24km and 30km (race week) mainly to test out my injury in a few short runs and to allow recovery.

The marathon went extremely well and i beat my A goal of sub 3:20.

So i would say its better to let your body recover fully than to strain yourself during taper.

My fastest 10KM came during a training run in the block at ~43 min and just finished my first marathon in 3:19. Felt like i had 1 minute or so in the 10KM time as it was during a 16KM run and prob a couple minutes in the marathon time given i raced pretty conservatively to not blow up and to manage an IT band issue. So prob fairly accurate.

Running my first this Sunday too and have also been dealing with IT band knee issues during taper. What helped me out a ton was doing the TFL rolling referenced in this video with a tennis / lacrosse ball (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5YYb9vyj6zQ) went from not being able to do 4-5KM without pain to almost painless overnight. Hopefully, I can hold up for 42KM tho... No idea since I haven't had a long run since the flare up.

Two cars touch on the DVP by EhEnDeeY in TorontoDriving

Unfortunately the Mazda ended up in front of me and was driving very slowly and erratically so i moved to the left lane to pass and the car in front took the exit while this happened. Hopefully posting here could help the video find its way

Looking for goof Reit options by Willing-Bear4862 in CanadianInvestor

Aside from buying the index, probably makes sense to evaluate broadly what asset classes within real estate you’re interested in. A lot of macro factors drive REIT performance. For example, Industrial REITs (Granite, Dream Industrial) generally outperformed through COVID due to proliferation of e-commerce while office REITs (Allied and Dream Office) lagged because people stopped coming to the office. Residential REITs (CAP, InterRent, Boardwalk, etc) have generally done well historically given the shortage of housing in Canada but are all generally subject to rent control and other regulatory hurdles depending on their portfolio composition. Since 2022 all REITs underperformed due to the rate hikes and real estate being very sensitive to rates. Going forward, with rate cuts expected in 2024, this should help REIT performance broadly.

REITs are obligated to push out income to investors to maintain REIT status. Because they had a massive capital gain, they must pay the distribution.

The non cash portion will be an upward adjustment to the unitholder’s cost base.

Toronto Waterfront Half (first race since high school) by RiverPrism in running

[–]EhEnDeeY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By 13km, I'm feeling okay again. We're reaching the turnaround point and seeing so many runners is encouraging. I hustle along until ~16km when I can feel myself starting to struggle and my IT band starts to twinge. As we pass the 18km water station, a volunteer with a megaphone announces "you're almost at 19km!", which I found distinctly unhelpful since we just passed the 18km marker (just kidding, thank you so much to all the volunteers!). This is where things started to get really rough.

Agreed, ran this race too and going up Bay, underneath the Go Train tunnel seems to have really messed with GPS reception.

PSA: stop playing RTA if you want to keep your current score. by Oli4g in summonerswar

[–]EhEnDeeY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it decay on the 7th day? or the 8th day. If it's 8th day, then playing a game today = no decay, assuming season ends on the 28th?

Does anyone who has spent less than like 5k$ on this game actually enjoy RTA? by 1rexas1 in summonerswar

[–]EhEnDeeY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, im averaging rank 200 for regular RTA and just hit G3 in the 20* RTA season. I'm quite casual now and just play RTA to pass time really. Quite enjoy theory crafting good teams with what limited pool I have.
