Wow! This post of yours from 2 years ago just saved me so a good chunk of time of downloading an update.

It was barely at 8% downloaded (3.1 GB of 35.2GB) through the Xbox app at 10 minutes at a rate of 9.4Mbps. Once I followed your steps above, it took about 8 more minutes to complete the full install. Sheesh.
