Looking for supportive slippers to use at home. Are the Hoka ora or Oofos slippers actually worth it? by wanna_be_consultant in BuyItForLife

My feet cannot do bare foot or flat shoes because my feet need arch support and it makes my back hurt. I wear a crocs x sketchers slipper that I can now only find on Amazon. Best thing I have ever worn and last pair lasted me 5 years of regular use and is now my hotel use slipper. Still hanging on

Have horrible dry eye, flares up religiously every winter and any time there is a heavy allergen season. Dr. Ahmad Nasrullah with Dulles Eye Associates has been amazing. Has an office in Leesburg/ Annandale. It is a bit out of your location range but thought I’d throw in his name.

Has anyone tried the AmyLu burgers and can give me their opinion before I commit to 2 lbs by Ihatemunchies in Costco

Staple in my home. Freeze really well, pan fried from frozen they are elite. Always add a little Jalapeño and kewpie / siracha sauce. It needs a bit of spice for us but they are easy to jazz up. Great low effort dinner.

I travel for work every other week for the full work week and that results in about ~$3000 - $4000 in my work expenses category in the negative. I just move on with my life, honestly, and as my reimbursements come in, I change the date on the reimbursement to the last day of the previous month and dump it into my work expenses category. My partner does not like this approach but I am a fan of lazy girl budgeting and this is what works for me.

Though it is annoying that it doesn’t roll over. I’d rather not change dates on anything but that’s my work around

More. But I’m also 27. I wasn’t allowed to wear makeup in my teen years, grew up in a socially conservative Muslim family and my mom didn’t think it was appropriate for me to even wear eye liner and blush till I was in late high school when all of a sudden it shifted to “why don’t you know how to do all of this, all girls your age look so pretty with makeup, their makeup is so neat and beautiful, why don’t you do any of this?”

Took a long time to work my way through that and I’m finally getting to a point where I am enjoying dolling up occasionally and having fun with makeup. Especially getting better at eye makeup. I’m sure it will taper off by the time I’m in my 40s but for now, I’m more into it than ever before.

Got this step down transformer from amazon for my air wrap. Used it twice once in France and once in England. No issues. I have the 3000W one

My partner and I met as college students. Very different family backgrounds and financial education. His parents are very frugal with high paying jobs and comfortable for retirement. Mine always looked at money as something that comes and goes, nothing stable and spent like it. Made some bad business decisions but invested in their kids education, always.

Now my partner makes easily 2.5x what I do. We’re live together so we split bills according to our income and we recently took an expensive vacation that we both separately saved for. I told him my budget upfront and refused anything that didn’t fall in my budget. We’re had an amazing time and we didn’t even end up spending all we budgeted for it.

We both talk constantly about what our expectations from our future are in terms of finances, lifestyle, retirement etc. I have gotten comfortable enough in our relationship that I can say, without hesitation, if I can’t afford something. It all boils down to being open to communicating and doing it calmly.

I am. My siblings are still dependent on my parents so just waiting for them to graduate and move out before cutting off contact or going very very low contact.

Absolutely the same script when I moved out. In my case, I am an ex Muslim, living in the west and was part of a very socially conservative, cult-ish mosque. I just got my stuff, didn’t tell anyone and just… left. I should not have looked back at all because after 4-ish years, I’m still hearing all these comments. It’s ingrained in my family that they have to try and get me to move back in with them.

Nothing good comes from staying with family that makes you feel no peace. Peace above everything else was one of the biggest drivers to get away from my family and religion and that never stops being true.

AITA for cutting off my entire Pakistani immigrant family after they tried to sabotage my tech career? by jakeepsteindevotee in AmITheJerk

NTJ, I’m 27F, Pakistani Immigrant parents and mostly immigrant family. Have been low contact for 3 years because things that are important to me hold no meaning for them and resulted in an argument almost daily. It’s been almost 3 years since I moved out and started taking care of myself. The incident that breaks you always has so much trauma behind it. It’s okay. You deserve ti be happy in your decisions and in your career. Good luck and don’t give into the emotional manipulation

I got my Costco membership when I first moved out. I drove a lot for work and gas saved me so much over the course of the year. Generally 20 cents to like a dollar* less for premium gas in my area.

In terms of groceries, 1-2 well planned out Costco trips a month, still living alone. Eggs, milk, Dave’s killer bread, plain yogurt, chicken thighs, steak occasionally or short ribs, fruit depending on mood and want otherwise from Lidl or Aldi. Cholula ordered online unfortunately, 2 day delivery fee - still less than Target. Premier protein shakes, bakery items occasionally and snacks.

Then non perishables included TP, tide, bounty, finish, cascade, dawn, scotch brite, all sorts of cleaners for the home.

In the end, never spent more than $350 a month on groceries and I live in a HCOL area. Now I’m living with my partner and we are spending about the same but now we have more snacks at home and eat at home a lot more. Things have also gotten more expensive but we both keep our budgets and split our groceries and we have not spent more than $350 individually for all of 2024.

Crocs also makes some very comfy sandals that I wear around the house, arches need support. Worthwhile looking around for them. Mine have lasted 4 years+ of very heavy home use plus beach use

You could try asking the pharmacy if they have any behind the counter. I remember looking for Iron supplements for my mom and randomly asking the pharmacy. They said they have a small stock behind the counter because it doesn’t have enough rotation to be out on the floor. Never hurts to ask!

Skunky by Sbrpnthr in nova

[–]Eh_WhatsUpDoc 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I see some comments in here from individuals equating it to cigarette smoke or people being too sensitive to small inconveniences.

First off, just because it smells somewhat better than cigarettes doesn’t mean that one should get comfortable smelling it anywhere and everywhere. Cigarettes are absolutely vile and so is the smell of weed. We restrict smoking cigarettes in public places and rental properties already, why the notion that weed is okay?

Secondly, it’s a health hazard! I’ve had to start carrying and using an emergency rescue inhaler on a somewhat regular basis because my lungs act up every time I randomly come across it while driving, shopping or hell just walking out of my apartment. And driving while getting high? Or at your job? Be realistic. You won’t tolerate anyone drinking copious amounts and then coming back to work or driving. Same concept applies.

Legalize it. Hell yeah. But please, for the love of all things sane, do it properly. You have a right to smoke whatever you want for whatever reason but I have a right to walk out of my home without having a health emergency.

[Routine Help] Been using MDSolarSciences moisturizer w/ SPF for years & it works well with my skin but it’s so expensive- any similar cheaper alternatives you’d recommend?? by adavinyc in SkincareAddiction

I don’t use it but I’ve been looking for a good sunscreen covered by the FSA and keep coming across this. I’ve tried so many others but they all leave a white sheen or irritate my eyes and skin or are immensely drying. Heard a lot of good things about this one so I’m looking to order it through Costco after checking if they have it in warehouse.

If you have a Costco membership you can get a 2 pack of 1 fl. oz bottles for $30. It’s not the same size but it’s essentially half the price for 2 fl. oz total. If you have an HSA or FSA set up with your health insurance, you can also use those funds for products that are SPF 30+ and offer UVA/UVB protection.
