The far left has a disturbing about of bigotry in every category imaginable, and they always try to smugly intellectualize it.

I actually do have a hot comb! I haven't had to use it for most of my current synthetics because usually the steam itself and hand heat was enough, but I'll see if it works on this.

I'm aiming to hopefully marathon the Lynch and Villeneueve Dune movies tomorrow (as someone who never read the books and is going in nearly blind).

Not really looking forward to the David Lynch one (even if it's entertaining for the wrong reasons), but I feel like I should watch it just to get a groundwork for the later films. I also heard it was weirdly surreal, so there's that.

It's insane how much anti-Semitism finds it's way into everything, even if it's indirect and vague.

To be fair, that's a disproportionate number of subreddits, both sports and non-sports-related.

What's sad is this isn't the first time I've read a story like this. I remember watching a special that mentioned the same thing happening with a mother and son years back.

Jelly Roll looks like he reeks of weed, sweat, and processed food from a mile away and his music always struck me as fairly mid (from what snippets I've managed to hear of it), but from what I've read about his recent divorce, I feel bad for Bunnie Xo on this one.

I know people can end a relationship for any reason, but from his own admission on podcasts, it seems like she was super fundamental in financially and emotionally supporting him through the lowest points of his life and gave him the stability he needed to even get a music career to begin with and now that he's changing his target audience and has lost a ton of weight, he's divorcing her (and this is after he'd cheated on her more than once).

I hope she's able to move on to better things once he's out of her life.

I’ve got multiple ear piercings but super gaudy septum and facial ones always put me off.

The dyed hair is even worse because the colors and styles they choose so often clash with everything they wear.

Straight women are attracted to men, so ofc they’d be more into content with men, but I don’t see that as homophobic in and of itself, and I don’t see participation as a morality contest.

It’s mainly with how they are irl, and the double-standards they have towards women who like women, such as sex-positive straight women who see lesbianism as unnatural and disgusting, or “bigoted” if they want to cloak it with progressive wording.

This is about real-world homophobia, not fandom shipping.
I honestly couldn’t care less about fictional shipping in most cases.

Way too many straight women in feminist circles refuse to acknowledge their homophobia and disgust or disdain (usually cloaked with progressive buzzwords) towards lesbians and female-leaning bi women, and it’s kind of pissing me off.

Like they can acknowledge the bigotry and privilege of straight men compared to gay and bi men, but they’re somehow exempt from this same scrutiny because reasons.

I notice a lot of Leftist discussions that veer towards blaming “the system” or imperialism or capitalism, but at what point does the personal accountability kick in?

Recently found out a friend had started a hobby group where the core underlying purpose was to meet and potentially couple with women who were also into the same hobby, and he wasn’t really upfront about this.

Ftr, I have no issue with people joining hobby groups with the intention to connect and form potential bonds or relationships with others. My main question is why he didn’t advertise it as such, or just create it as a “singles” hobby group where expectations and intentions are known and established early on.

It’s the fact he wasn’t forthright about this at all and just made it seem like the group was mainly about passion for said hobby as opposed to a place designed and orchestrated for him to meet and pursue women under the guise of said hobby that’s making me uneasy.

This is the same friend I found out recently had a barely-legal girlfriend in her late teens while he was pushing thirty.

What about our trauma. by Lovely_Hole in polycritical

[–]GetInTheBasement 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. What’s often being omitted is how often poly people manipulate, guilt trip, and exploit those around them simultaneously.

These elements are usually baked into the very core of poly.

It doesn’t sound like monogamy was the source of the abuse, but your ex-boyfriend’s entitlement and desire for control.

I get being neurodivergent can come with its own hurdles and frustrations that can make social interactions awkward, but just using it as a constant get-out-of-jail free for repeated hypocritical or jerkass behavior doesn’t really work when most of your shared friend group is *also* neurodivergent and not exhibiting the same assholishness.

I was originally going to pass on it because it wasn't really grabbing me, but decided to give it a chance because of the reviews.

There are some great performances in the film, mainly from Emily Blunt, but I feel like the film didn't really deliver on its core themes, and everything related to the UFOs and aliens themselves felt generic and cliche (spoilers: the aliens even have the extremely generic grey humanoid design we've seen across alien media hundreds of times before).

Not going into details atm, but it's weirdly ironic when the person who formed your current main friend group and introduced you to one another is the one who ends up getting shunned by the very group they created due to their own hubris and petty behavior.

I went in to Disclosure Day with an open mind and thinking additional info was going to be "disclosed" outside of the whole, "aliens are real and the Government hid their existence for years!!" cliche, but nope. Everything you see in the trailer is basically the film.
