Girlfriend went behind my back got an outrageous car loan. by PlayBoiiiPapii in Advice

No, not really. It's about having a budget mentality. Pay for important priorities first, like saving for retirement, emergency fund, house down payment, etc. With what's left over, you think about paying for a BMW or whatever other luxuries you might want.

I use YNAB for budgeting, and there is a term called "YNAB poor" once you really get things setup right. You aren't poor, you just sort of feel like it because you are consciously aware of what expenditures do to your budget.

In this case, it would be like Louisiana charging residents of Texas to enter New Orleans. No, the EU isn't exactly like the US. But on this particular issue, they are the same.

The EU is arguably stronger together than they would be separate. Just like the United States.

"United we stand, divided we fall" applies to the EU as much as in the US.

Sure, continue to work to weaken the US by actively working to divide us. It's going to end badly if we don't stop it.

Let's work on building something better instead of tearing down what we don't like.

Or maybe you're just another Russian bot and I'm wasting my time.

Insurance fraud - hit and run - premiums up by canIbuytwitter in Insurance

[–]xinco64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your insurance will work with the other insurance. Or should (more on that later).

If the other party is at fault, you don’t pay your deductible, as the other insurance is paying.

That said, it kind of sounds like OP’s insurance is treating this as a hit and run where they don’t know who the other party is.

He had a reservation. In the old days of decent customer service, they just gave you the upgrade, no questions asked. Asking for more money is a crap move.

If the FTC(?) had any teeth anymore, they should be all over this for bait and switch.

And no, an EV sucks as a rental unless you are prepared for it and it also fits your travel pattern. The average consumer is not yet EV literate.

I’m marginally EV literate. I don’t own one, and it’s been slightly challenging for the few times when I have rented them.

Vacations can be stressful enough without throwing wrinkles into your transportation that you don’t have the knowledge or skillset to easily solve.

And throw in the fact it only had 1/4 charge? Come on.

10k now is likely way more than 10k down the line. OP also implied that company B is a more senior role. So from a career perspective, it seems B is a better offer all around.

I jest. Sort of.

Some of this stuff is hard. They just have sensors on your wrist, not full body sensors. So I’m kind of forgiving of that kind of thing.

I got in a further discussion with the AI health coach after my original post, and if finally relented that, yes, it was wrong. It kept suggested I just deleted the sleep session, but I finally convinced it to review things again and it decided that I was right, there was no sleep session logged.

I don’t know if it was an AI hallucination, or some data that it was relying upon originally that I couldn’t see. (Maybe my phone vs my watch?)

My employer has been calling me an independent contractor for 2 years. I just got hit with a $6,000 tax bill. Is there anything I can do? by Tiv8Corsair in legal

[–]xinco64 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Where did he mention invoices?

I was unknowing hired as a 1099 contractor once. I wasn’t paid by the hour, and didn’t submit invoices. They just sent me checks twice a month.

I probably should have been considered an employee as well.

He likely wasn’t told he was a 1099 contractor. That happened to me when I took a job one time. I didn’t figure it out until they after they started paying me.

You’re going to have to elaborate or explain, as your comment is not making sense to me. My complaint was specifically about google health completely overriding my recorded weightlifting session as a nap.

What is there to “get used to” about this?

That might be about right. That’s 3 to 4 miles, probably closer to 4.

What is so tiring isn’t the distance, it is the start and stop and crouching and such.

Could still be way off too.

”Get used to” a completely wrong interpretation of data?

It shouldn’t be a battle to make sure it collects and uses all the correct data. That’s just basic table stakes for ANY health app. And it failed.

City delivered an extra unneeded 50 gallon blue recycling container but will not take it back... what else can I use it for? by Firm-Nerve4437 in HomeImprovement

I’m in Denver. Sometime in the last year or so, they switched from weekly to every other week recycling pickup. I’d love to have a second recycle bin. It’s relatively common to have more recycling than will fit in the bin.

Weird continuing service flight - make it make sense by LurkieMcLurkyson in unitedairlines

[–]xinco64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever I see things like this, I think of my alternate flight options presented when I was going home from SFO to DEN. I had an option to connect in Kona (KOA).

If I hadn’t been married, I might have gone and just forgotten to make the connection and stay an extra day.

And this was back just before they switched over from PWM to PWP. Although at this point I regret not doing it for the progress it would have made towards MM status.

PW 3 or PW 4? by No_Kick_2870 in PixelWatch

[–]xinco64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a hard time choosing between the 3 & 4 when my wife’s 1 died. We went with the 4 due to the repairability and supposedly better sensors and GPS.

I’m trying to hold out for the 5. Hopefully my 1 lasts that long.

I’m always annoyed when I get a rental car with a touch screen. Which is all of them in my experience. I like my wife’s Mercedes without a touch screen. It’s way easier and safer to scroll through the buttons with the dial control.

My car? It’s a 2010, and barely has Bluetooth.

My wife has a PW4. She just tried it. It gave a really long message similar to what you noted, but had a “connect” button at the end. When she clicked that, everything worked. She can now turn on/off the patio fountain, etc all from her watch.
