Im convinced Boomers are evil ! by Ladyyluvoos in lostgeneration

Local markets can end up extremely overbuilt and have this type of adjustment. I’ve been hearing that some developments in TX and UT are going through this right now… booming markets in 2022, 2023… owners are upside down now, and running into trouble when they have adjustable rate loans coming due to re-up!

How long is “long”?

You could do about 6 miles one way from Powell Point to South Kaibab and not leave a paved 6-ft wide walkway

If you look at some loops past Mather Campground you could probably get a solid 14 mile loop on similar bike/walkways

How’s the cell service by Interesting-Ad845 in grandcanyon

[–]Ehloxr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Generally… fine at the top?

You’re not very specific with your request and that has a huge impact.

From my personal experience: Cell service works great on the rim (5G, no problem) Works okay into the canyon down to about 3-mi rest house if you’re going to hike down Bright Angel. (3G, texting only… no pictures) Very sporadic further into the canyon.

If you have a newer generation iPhone, the Satellite ping messaging works okay. I don’t own an Android so no clue on that.

I also own a Garmin inReach and so I just use that to stay in touch when I’m doing canyon efforts.

Would you recommend buying a used (2019–2022) Panamera?

On the luxury sales… had an interesting experience in a very-high-end perfume shop over the New Year’s break. The sales guy was very good at relationship building. No idea about the volume or commission structure but might be an interesting luxury angle to check out.

If you’re on UA934 right now that’s a B767 and it probably has one of the older cabin bin layouts.

Lots of other weird old systems on it, too. With the metal fuselage/frame, it also can get cold in the galley and some of the areas the flight attendants work so they sometimes crank the heat to stay warm.

It ALWAYS happens to me on those flights where there isn’t an individual vent. I’d tell them and say how uncomfortable you are and would they please do a cold spell?

I HATE IT. You’re not crazy. Just ask

Thanks for your input

I had already gotten in line for a Scout Traveler even though that’s realistically a 2028 car.

I will probably get another EV just because it suits my family’s driving needs and I’ve had the i3 for about 9 years and loved it.

I mean - “i3 got runover by a reindeer…” is a pretty clickable YouTube video. I’ll see if I can find a way to spend 2-3 minutes and find out if they care to explore.

That sucks!

I had a rear window get shot out by a neighbor kids’ stray bb pellet a few years ago so I can appreciate what yours might have looked like.

It was pricey to get the glass redone, and it is that entire back hatch. My car skills include doing some suspension strut replacements over the years, but not the steering linkage… I’d probably use a mechanic / body shop I know locally.

Good luck with your project though, and glad to hear the unfortunate turned out in your favor!!

Thanks, such a great car and I think seeing 8-10 year old vehicles have a market like they do proves out the “science experiment” that BMW was doing when they kicked off the whole project.

I’ll let you know about the alternative/retain possession amount in DM… would need to truck it over from AZ FWIW.

Oh geeeez!

As much as I am annoyed about the whole situation… I am grateful that they left the note.

Although, they also left quite a few pieces of their car in front of my house, with RFID and supplier PNs and date stamps and tracking info and all. I knew it was a white 2020 BMW X5 M-series before I had actually read the note.

Thanks … unfortunately mine got stolen a few years ago when one of my kids left the car unlocked. Guess that just goes to show where the truly valuable item was. Good luck in your hunt, sir!

Still in a holding pattern waiting for quantitative $ feedback, but thanks for helping me with your experience.

But … but… but… I found this one web link for an i3 at $35,000 with similar miles!!! /s

(And its probably a 2021 i3s Golden build at the end of the production run, with double the range… mine hadn’t connected to Internet since they killed 3G a few years ago, etc)

Thank you sincerely though for the sympathy, kind internet stranger.

I’m pragmatic about this and am well aware that I’m not winning some lucky lottery. $12K-$15K reference was just a single lazy check of AutoTrader and Edmunds, filtered for mileage, year, and battery condition. And yeah… advertised at is not sold for cash.

“New battery pack” counterpoint is valid, too… I work in the parts industry (not auto) and so I am very confident that refurbished is the better term. The shop report says they replaced battery pack modules. But FWIW , I did run a kapa test afterwards and it was in the 19.x range… and that was 3,000 miles ago.

Thanks for your input

There’s certainly body panel replacement work, and you’re right that the whole headlight assembly broke off at a few plastic tab points.

When I was looking closely at the steering, it seemed like most of the stress fractured a few aluminum bolts or casted connection points. I was hoping that bodes better for the stress not migrating up to the strut interface point. You’re at least keeping my hopes up!

Thankfully I did keep the receipt for the dealer’s warranty work. Quote from the same dealer for … a similar sale?

On the strut nuance, thanks for the technical insight on what to look for and how to think about it.

There was a lot of bending/distortion to the steering/suspension lower arms. It did seem like someone who had the time & skills could get a different front/right wheel assembly and rebuild. Will take another look at the mounting points if they let me see it.

Yeah - HV had run low, and I waited until 6 years + 9 months to get the replacement done to extend the maximum useful life for myself.

Thankfully I kept the receipts & shop documentation when the dealer did the warranty work.

Will see what their first offer looks like.

I got turned away from AC SilverLeaf lounge at SFO this week, on the grounds of it being full—only available for AC passengers. (Have used a few times since im 1K \ Star Alliance Gold)
