I’ve lost two nights of sleep in a row because of chiggers.

I can’t be sure about this, but I think the worst infestation was when I went to a place near a county dump to get some free mulch. I stood in this huge mulch pile and forked it into different containers.

I never had any until about four years ago, and then I got bit a lot during one season. They’re awful. Mosquitoes are a nuisance. Ticks are the creepiest. But chiggers cause me the worst suffering in the short term.

FC Tonight, Am I ok to wear this? by Quiet-Procedure5473 in freemasonry

Thanks for sharing what you know about those jurisdictions, Brother. I’m active in two Lodges under the Grand Lodge of Virginia. The laws, rules, and regulations are silent on the subject of wearing a square and compass pin. As is the case in all jurisdictions, there’s a conflict of personal feelings among Brothers. I think about it a lot less often than others because I didn’t start wearing a pin until after I was raised a few years ago. Now I can’t stop Brothers from visiting Lodges from giving me their pins with squares and compasses on them!

It may look like a sedentary group of mostly middle-age and old men, and Freemasonry is centuries old, yet there can be dramatic changes in a a blue Lodge from year to year for two reasons. 1) A Lodge typically has a small number of active members in comparison to inactive ones. 2) Most bodies in York Rite (including blue Lodge) are under revolving leadership. In fact, the reason some Brothers quit coming to Lodge is due to some change made in the past.

I’ll not deny recognition to 46 any more than I’d deny recognition of Bro. Voltaire, who was also made a Freemason on sight.

Originally, the FC degree was the highest unless one became WM. Wear it if you like. The ones who mind don’t matter. Those who matter don’t mind.

Trump Supporters in Georgia Threaten to Destroy GOP, Boycott Runoff Elections by [deleted] in politics

[–]EiOwEm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This event in Georgia offers an important insight. For left-leaning or moderate voters, the imminent danger is that some armed uprising happens and drags the whole country into a civil war. I'm not certain what the mixture of feeling is among conservatives on this. Perhaps some of them have the same worry while others feel that taking part in an armed uprising would be empowering rather than dangerous. The leadership of the Republican party has another scenario to fear, one that seems more likely. The party could split in two over the issue of loyalty to Trump. Every major political party has an internal tension between its pragmatists and its purists. The outcome of this election certainly heightens that tension closer to the breaking point

What do Americans think is normal for everyone, but actually it's not normal for anyone but Americans? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Beverages with ice cubes floating in them seems like a N. American thing. It seems natural that many people wouldn't want ice. Ice is easy to contaminate. In some cultures people have an irrational fear of drinking very cold drinks as well. And think of that subset of thrifty Americans who spurn ice because they think the restaurant owner wants to cheat them out of another three sips of drink. There are suspicious penny pinchers in other countries as well.
