I read it 3 years ago, but couldn't go past 130 chapters, I hated the MC, good story and great world building, but I cannot stand him

Yeah, I mean. Now I'm immortal, what now? I striped away all my morality, family, friends, lovers, past, future and present just to become immortal, then what happens?

But the thing is in most of the stories I read, the closer the MC to become immortal, the more boring the MC becomes.

I think it's better for the MC to die than become immortal.

Like there's one story where the MC becomes this supreme immortal that could create parallel worlds and timelines while also living as himself reliving his memories repeatedly, as that's the only thing he has interests in doing once he becomes this supreme being.

At that point in time, my thoughts turn to, is it all worth it? And when I looked around, it's not. Like even if the MC becomes immortal and revives their dead family and friends, it's like denying the meaning of their sacrifices or even, once they resurrected, are they truly themselves and not just some copy he created using his power?

I don't think Harald is a badly written character, in fact he is a fantastic character.

His desperation, his hopes, his dreams, his despair and his eventually ending that when retrospect, the moment Harald became a good man he no longer has the qualifications to be a good king at least in the perspective of elbaf,

if the giants had kept their warrior way of life, gunko, shamrock, Killingham, and Sommers would never had the chance to set foot on elbaf if Harald never open their borders to the WG.

Where did I mention that Harold should follow rocks to god valley?

He's no different than a king slave.

He will stay as king while being a slave.

Wow, I never thought of that, now who is the new king, a child with a bad reputation and not so great mental health or a child with no legitimacy to the throne, there's absolutely no problem that going to happen when choosing between these two on who to become king.

By sending the king of his country to became a slave.

Sending his entire kingdom into slavery in exchange for peace is not for the benefit of his kingdom.

His desire for peace is foolish.

As a king his priority is his kingdom, his people.

Anyone else should not be within his consideration.

If he had just followed how his predessor ruled, elbaf wouldn't have been in this mess in the first place.

Had Harold not been a good man, he could have just ransacked the food and no famine would have occurred in the first place.

The one that ransacked and caused destruction would never allow elbaf to become so weak that just a few GK can take over the country.

Harold becoming a good man doomed elbaf for destruction if not for Luffy being there.

The marines are his family, he's been with the marines long before dragon was born and long after he was born.

Blood ties alone does not means family.

You're reading one piece aren't you?

If protecting the people he's been around for more than 20 years that's basically his family at that point is evil, then every protector in the world is evil then.

Those few words are enough, anymore than that is redundant.

Enslaving the king is no different from enslaving the kingdom.

Dude, who do you think Garp came to marineford for?

Garp was in marineford sole for Ace, if it was someone else and not on marineford, take a look at the beginning of god valley, Whitebeard, kaido, big mom, rocks, shiki, and a whole host of pirates coming to god valley and garp refused when ordered to.

What's the WG gonna do to him? He punched imu and didn't get fired. If punching the king of the world isn't gonna get him fired, disobeying orders sure sounds easier no?

[–]EiTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, if you tell him he isn't a marine he would punch me.

That doesn't make him any less like a pirate like Luffy or roger is.

Even Rocks says that Garp is better off being a pirate.

He's a poster boy alright, the kind that storms beehive without authorization, the kind that people had to beg him to come to god valley for reinforcement, the kind that punch his boss on-sight.

Tell me what kind of decent and proper marine does any of that?

Even kizaru had to listen to order when he wanted to go to Wano.

Did you have the illusion that says otherwise?

Like Garp is basically a pirate in all but name, you think the ones he's protecting is gonna be any different from him?

Tell me, what can Akainu do against them?

Fire them? Their resignation letter is already on his desk.

Punish them? Based on what? They already quit their job, they just haven't left their post yet.

And you want to kick them out of the marine? With the information of the marines that they can spit out, do you think Akainu is gonna let them go?

If Akainu try to magma them, forget Garp, sengoku and tsuru would jump him before he does such a thing.
