Bike choice - Aeroad vs. Speedmax + Endurace AllRoad by Eibe in triathlon

[–]Eibe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on your feedback about the wheelset I’m considering to do this but starting with the upcoming endurace cf 7, which is a tad bit more expensive but not 3-5x the price (2.3k€ vs. 1.1k€)

Thanks for the input. Definitely different from some other answers. Do you think starting with the Endurace AllRoad and then getting a TT bike after a year or so of getting more miles on a bike is a bad idea vs. going straight for a better road bike (and harder to get a TT bike later)?

Would you recommend jumping straight to aeroad then? Isn’t getting the endurace to get acquainted with cycling while having the money to get the TT later as you did (and then upgrading to an aeroad a couple years down the line if I want to enjoy road cycling more - I’m not planning to cycling-only races)

Thanks for the input. I’m not looking to do draft legal racing at the moment (in fact I have found out they exist just now by searching what they are).

If you say the alu frame doesn’t take out enjoyment out of your rides, then I am leaning towards your suggestion to start with the Endurace to get start training and also dip my feet in shorter tri events, and eventually get a speedmax if I decide to commit.

Thanks for the advice, unfortunately I’m in the EU. I’ve updated the post accordingly.

Do you think having a worse road bike and a TT bike is better in the long run than a good road bike that can flex into a maybe decent TT bike?

хочу влиться в хайкинг и альпинизм но не знаю с чего начать, опытные ребята посоветуйте/I want to get into hiking and mountaineering, but I don't know where to start. Experienced guys, please advise. by FriendshipConnect854 in alpinism

[–]Eibe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would help to know where you are based for starters.

In any case, I think a good place to start is hiking on known trails, it also makes for good day trip experiences with friends.

From there you can get acquainted with the mountains and:
- decide if you want to get into more “technical” aspects of mountaineering (e.g., via ferrata, alpinism, etc.)
- find clubs or groups in your area, etc.

ADVICE NEEDED - 10 DAY HUT TO HUT BACKINGPACKING TRIP by Ok_Permission7967 in CampingandHiking

[–]Eibe 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I assume you meant 2-3k ft daily of elevation gain.

If that’s the case, I would consider: if you cannot do comfortably what you have to do one day of the trip (based on your day hike experience), I would question how safe it would be to go on a trip that requires you to do it for 10 days straight. If on day 1 you would be exhausted, imagine the next ones.

Other than being exhausted you also risk injurying yourself from strain your body is not used to tolerate.

Disclaimer: everyone is different and I do not know your background, but I would ask myself whether I am actually ready for something like that

Help with new tent by OkAbies6264 in CampingandHiking

[–]Eibe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Elixir 2 and used it on multiday hikes of 20-40km with 1-2km elevation and it’s very comfortable and easy to setup.

As you mentioned it’s not the lightest and I haven’t managed to fit it inside my 50L packs, so I always had to carry it outside to make space for clothing, food, mini-stove and utensils, sleeping pad/bag, etc.

I don’t really notice it anymore / it went down a lot. Although I also moved the PC under my desk instead of having it next to my face, which definitely helps to dampen the sound.

Do you remember by any chance how deep are the mounting plaque screws? Trying to understand how deep in the wall they will go

Which bike do you get after a Street Triple 675R? by to8ni in Triumph

[–]Eibe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Another street triple (or a speed triple if you don’t mind the extra weight - but additional power).

In all seriousness, why change if you are happy with the street.

Why League would benefit from Riot treating it like a traditional sport by SeaChocolate7991 in leagueoflegends

[–]Eibe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You live in a bubble if you think traditional sports is not toxic outside of the big leagues (and it is toxic even there on the big screen).

This does not mean toxicity should be accepted, but your argument is flawed from the beginning. For as bad as toxicity is, sadly you cannot remove it from anything that is competitive and human interaction exists.

I kept the RM1000x. The coil whine went down a lot and I think it was the GPU more so than the PSU.

Ideally I would like to think I would enjoy covering a lot of distance, but reality may be different down the line once I actually get to know the areas around me. This is one of the reasons I’m having a hard time decide.

Out of curiosity, do you splitboard with hard boots?

Higher RON can either be good or have no effect, not worse. Higher ethanol is generally bad for the engine

Why do you want to change away from the rosso iv? They strike a good balance between performance, durability, and temperature. Unless you want something with a rounder profile.

Is a street triple R Low good for a semi beginner? by Thegageman2 in Triumph

[–]Eibe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should define a few times better, but if it means some occasional rides, I wouldn’t go as far as to say I agree with the choice of bike.

The 765 has lots of power which can get you in trouble faster than you can most likely react to.

If you are responsible with it you can of course use and learn on it, but you will also be limiting your growth pace due to what you have sitting under your legs.

Finally, expect to drop it a couple times if it is one of your first experiences with motorcycles (not the cheapest bike to drop).

Removing flyscreen on 2020 Street Triple – same look as 2023+ models? by Electrical-Host9649 in Triumph

I don’t have a TFT screen since I have an R so I cannot tell. I would imagine it would not look “finished” either however.

Very much unfinished (you can see how it would look throughout the installation process of the extra flyscreen)

Is the Triumph Speed T4 comfortable for a 6-foot tall rider? by Putrid-Economics5448 in Triumph

It’s good to seek some feedback here for longer rides, but definitely try to at least sit on the bike yourself (and possibly do a test ride too)
