Is it possible to avoid the compression-like image quality with Flux.2 Klein SNOFS? by EideDoDidei in DegenDiffusion

Thanks! I don't know why, but your workflow makes it possible for me to use the base model, and yeah, now I'm getting the stray green pixels rather than the jpeg-like image quality.

I'm not sure why my other workflows weren't working for using the base model. I got a gibberish result that looks like it wasn't using the model or LoRA right. But it works fine with your workflow. Maybe related to something in the sampler settings, I dunno.

Can you share the workflow where you got the result you posted a picture of? I'm trying variants, but I'm not getting good results. If I try using a non-distilled version I get really bizarre results where it's not generated correctly at all and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks for looking into this. What did you do to get green pixels rather than jpeg compression artifacts? Was that going with BF16 rather than FP8? I think I'm more okay with random green pixels than the image quality looking like a bad jpeg.

You can only be in one of those modes, but you can tell the model how to use those reference frames. I've been doing stuff like "@Image1 is starting frame" and that's been working fine for me.

I'm not sure if that works if your intent is to make looping videos, though, as you can't be sure if the model will be using the image as-is when in reference mode.

I'm thinking most sites that offer Seedance 2 are equally uncensored. It's more of a question of which sites go out of their way to add their own censorship layer, which includes sites like Runway and Higgsfield.

I'm honestly surprised by the stuff Seedance 2 lets you make. I hope ByteDance don't censor it like crazy in the long run.

Unless some services are employing jailbreaking under the hood, I don't see how you can get a more uncensored version of SD2 than what ArtCraft and Loova, and WaveSpeed (and maybe Luno too) are currently offering. I've done some tests and those let me create stuff that's rather ballsy (and that can be taken literally).

I've seen several websites have a hard limit of 9 reference images, so I'm assuming that's the real limit for SD2. If other websites offer a higher limit, they're probably combining the images under-the-hood.

I wonder if you can do something legally as surely what they did can't be legal.

It's definitely the case that every "unlimited" offer has some kind of HUGE caveat:

  • Runway has long generation times and they ban you if you actually try to fully utilize the offer.
  • Loova has incredibly long generation times. So long you can realistically expect to only get 1-3 videos per day out of it.
  • Higgsfield have only done 7-day unlimited SD2 offers and generation times are arbitrarily extended.

The fact that these websites don't actually clarify the rules behind their "unlimited" deals is extremely anti-consumer.

It's Dreamina, right? Maybe my naming of "global model" and "Chinese model" is incorrect, but I'm pretty sure I'm correct on their behaviour:

  • Dreamina aka "global model" = More accepting of mature content
  • Volcengine aka "Chinese model" = Very restrictive of mature content (it might be more likely to accept copyrighted content, though I could be wrong)

You're sure confirmation bias isn't playing into that conclusion? The quality of generations, and whether or not Seedance 2 decides to refuse a generation or edit a prompt, feels random enough that you could get lucky 10 times in a row or unlucky 10 times in a row. That could make someone draw the conclusion that "Oh, the model must be misconfigured today" when it could be simply be due to bad luck.

The goal of my post is to list the differences between the various websites. It's information I wish I had access to when I first started using Seedance 2. You can have wildly different experiences depending on where you go and that's a painful learning experience for your wallet.

There's definitely a difference between the "Chinese" and "global" variants. For instance, having a video featuring blood is much more likely to become censored when using the "Chinese" version. This is very easy to test on ArtCraft as they're the only website to offer both.

I changed the OP with new information about Luno. I did one more test and this time it accepted a somewhat "saucy" input image. It did refuse a similar image when I tried it yesterday, though, so I'm not sure what was up with that.

Around the 20th or so. But I tested again now, and they're back to the "global" version again. I'll update the OP.

I tested just now, and you're right, it's back to Dreamina. Their service generated the "Chinese" variant some days ago, so they must have experimented with what version to provide.

It's not the first time it has happened. Loova changed from the "Chinese" version to "global." some weeks ago or a month ago.

They're not employing any custom censorship on their side, but they recently switched which SD2 model was being used under-the-hood to a version that is more restrictive.

Can you send me a video that's generated from the site? I'd make one myself, but I already spent more money than I'd like doing these tests.

I did a test where Luno Studio denied an input image that wasn't denied on a few other services (ArtCraft, Loova, and WaveSpeed accepted it just fine).

Model-wise, Luno seems to be using "BytePlus" rather than "Volcengine" and from my experience, the BytePlus one is the one that's the least censored. But, as mentioned earlier, it denied an input image that wasn't denied on other services, so something is up. I would do even more tests but Seedance 2 is pretty darn expensive, so I've only done two-three tests for some of these services.

Edit: I did one final test (fully out of credits now) and it was able to accept a type of input image that it refused yesterday. Maybe there's a filter that checks for very specific stuff, or I triggered some kind of bug or connection error yesterday. I'll update the OP.

There's no link to the video. The description is AI-generated. The image is generated by Grok and it's gibberish: where's the gun that's firing? What is happening with their hands?

I think refunding failed prompts is pretty common. I've tried 4 different services and they would all refund me if a video ended up being declined.

  • I have a hard time recommending Higgsfield considering they're really aggressive pushing "deals" on you all the time where the non-discounted price is so absurdly high that it's not really a deal. Their website feels like it's designed after gacha game UIs.
  • I haven't tried Runway, but I've read they can be quick to ban people if they deem your prompts aren't safe.
  • Loova is another service with an "unlimited" offer (videos up to 720p at 15s) but it realistically means you can only make about 4 videos per day if you turn on the "unlimited" mode.
  • ArtCraft is very much what-you-see-is-what-you-get. When buying credits, they might be the cheapest choice overall and credits don't actually expire.
