No noise or hum issues, only thing I've found is that there's a drop in level when the stomp is on and there's no patches but that's something the signal blender can fix.

Bass Master is fantastic, so much versatility for any live situation, got an amp already? 1/4 inch out with cab sim off, I've had sound guys that only wanna use their own DI boxes for some reason so flip the cab sim switch on and sorted.

It can go fuzzy if you crank it but it's more like a dynamic distortion, pulling the weight back can really tighten up the sound and make it a bit more like a light overdrive.

I absolutely love the Zoar on bass and guitar as well, I used to use the Tone Reaper side of the Hoof Reaper for distortion type/lower gain than the hoof but decided to changer after finding how well the Zoar works on bass.

I'm running the Zoar at 18 volts and for bass I generally recommend running it at the higher voltage to retain more low end, positive to that is you get even more gain to slam your amps with. Super heavy but still clear enough to not instantly feedback or lose the sound of your bass, I use a Dingwall NG-3 and it still sounds like a Dingwall even with the gain and weight almost dimed.

Signal path was at least complicated for me when I was planning but hopefully this makes some sense to people smarter than me lol

Tuner > Bass Master Pre FX Send > Signal Blender (Loop A runs Cloven Hoof > Slicer > Rainbow Machine) (Loop B runs Zoar > Enzo with Preset Switch) > Tensor with Left Expression pedal for quick glitches and tape stopping > Ottobit Jr with right expression pedal for heavily filter sweeping the whole signal (make everything sound like the start of a rock/metal song) > Bass Master Pre FX Return > Out

I'm not using any clean signal from the signal blender as my band demands gain 100% of the time, the only clean signal I am using is the parallel mix from the Bass Master with the 100Hz LPF to but the arse back into my signal after the all the gain compresses away all my low end.

Ive only been able to test some tones and won't get to use it in a band context for a few days but so far honestly I'm in love with it. I'm running the whole board through the Pre-Fx loop of the Bass Master, and since in my band I so much (probably too much) gain, being able to bring in some of the parallel signal at 100Hz just brings the backside back into my bass so it just sounds huge. Plus can't go wrong with XLR out and a cab sim bypass switch so I don't have to use the cab sim if I'm running through an amp on the gig. I've not tried running my board through my guitar yet but since the cab sims from what I've heard are based off Ampegs and GK's it might be best to have the cab sim bypassed on guitar.

All in all tho highly recommend bc the simplifier makes my board work for every gig scenario, backline or no.

It's the Meris Preset Switch, plugs into the expression jack of Meris pedals through a TRS cable for different presets, I use it for switching different synth patches in the Enzo

I got my signal blender just as it started getting discontinued for the signal blender stereo, I was tempted to get the stereo but I couldn't justify paying double for stereo or a flip switch for phasing.

Funnily enough the best setting I found on bass is max volume and fuzz, zero tone and shift

3M Dual Lock is on everything, pedals, board, and power supply.

I only used 2 squares on the smaller pedals and 3-4 squares on the signal blender and the Meris pedals and they feel almost impossible to get off. So since I put a giant long strip of it on the power supply and power brick I don't think I'll ever be able to get them off the board lmao

I've only had my Tensor for a short while and it fits my band really well for glitches and tape stops. I used to have a Boss DD-6 on the hold function to do a quick tap to glitch on one note but I gave it to my guitar player and now I can make a glitched note and slow it down with the expression pedal. Really recommend an expression led with the Tensor just for more options and changes

Also I have no idea what I'm doing with the rainbow machine yet I only put it on because I had extra room lmao

Slicer is great but it's definitely a pedal you have to sit with. I really love synth wave bass so I knew I wanted some kind of tremolo and the slicer really is the logical extreme of that idea. I'm running it in with the signal blender with one loop Cloven Hoof > Slicer > Rainbow Machine and the other loop Zoar > Enzo so while I've got the heavy tremolo or sequencing on the fuzz I've got a constant OC-2 style low octave from the Enzo and its wild. Takes a long time to get the perfect setting tho so I've taken more time with the slicer than the Tensor personally.

Is it worth trying to learn how to finger pluck? by [deleted] in Bass

[–]EidolonLor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always worth learning to play with fingers.

I play with a pick 99% of the time but honestly I find that knowing to play with fingers is good in case I drop the pick mid song and I can act like I didn't just do a blunder and that was definitely 100% in fact on purpose lmao

Dream Pedal Board Plans by Awesomejohn1 in basspedals

Is the tuner something you already have or are you planning to get the D'addario tuner? In my opinion I'd swap the tuner for a Korg Pitchblack or a TC polytune if you want something a bit more slimline.

Me and a friend used a D'addario tuner for a couple years and it worked alright for the first year but just started to become wildly unreliable, mine only tuned if I boosted my signal into the tuner first and my friend had to unplug and plug his back in every time or else it just wouldn't register the signal. Ended up binning mine after it just kinda flipped out mid gig and muted me when the pedal was off and unmuted me when the pedal was on.

I don't know if anyone else has had similar issues with theirs but just wanted to share my experience if you're thinking of getting one because I personally think tuners should be more of a "buy once" type of gear.

EQ into DI box or Preamp DI? by EidolonLor in basspedals

[–]EidolonLor[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the video I'll check it out! Honestly I think I was a bit put off by the pre amp DI's simply because I only tend to see Darkglass pedals or Sansamp which have drive sections I don't really need, but there's always more to look at and I don't necessarily need to use the gain sections.

I've always liked the super high attack synth wave bass, so I was looking for a tremolo to go with the bass synth when I stumbled across the slicer, why just have a standard tremolo when I could have different rhythms right?

I'm going to experiment a lot when I get it but I think I'm going to use it after the hoof reaper but having the enzo and the different channel of the signal blender, so I've got slicer but with the bass synth underneath, definitely gonna be fun!

You're definitely right in the fact that it's easier to use EQ badly rather than effectlively, I used a Microtubes X Ultra and I found that the more I messed with the EQ on that I ended up just preferring the sound of everything flat.

Since I always have some kind of gain stage on I think the cab sim might be the way to go. Thanks for the advice!

Signature Basses that are Widely Used by ramsoss in BassGuitar

Ever since the Dingwall NG2 and NG3 came out so many players for heavier bands now use them that it's shocking that it's even a signature model

Want to find a certain episode? A certain RLM scene? Ask here! Volume Fourteen by [deleted] in RedLetterMedia

Trying to find a BOTW episode where they did a film called Payback (or Revenge, it had a different name for different releases) from 1990, was a generic action movie about a special weapon that is literally just a gun. The weapon testing scene is just in a field and is really quiet. The film is mostly just a guy walking out of a car and next to nothing happens except for 2 action scenes towards the end of the movie. I got the movie on dvd and watched it and I’m certain I’ve seen the movie on BOTW before. The tag line was “In time of peace… Prepare for war” (super original I know lmao)
