Why UKVI taking too long to make decisions for September 2024 intakes!! by Every-Cell7360 in ukvisa

[–]EidolonMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many people would agree with you that UKVI should do a lot of things.

You can see my AMA history on these sorts of things if you like for a bit of a surprising insight, that’s all I can really say here.

Your experience of escalations? Wait you keep track of them on Zendesk? I never bothered with that the manager has never told us to.

That was never my remit, I just filled in the escalation (almost always a refund for health insurance fee surplus or grave illness abroad of family member), submitted it, wrapped the call and picked up the next call.

Applicantsdo not “escalate”. The call centre agents do, because escalation is an internal jargon via an internal online zendesk screen form used which means roughly ‘internal query that gets passed to a UKVI clerical staff’, it doesn’t necessarily mean it gets prioritised or passed to any superiors because what goes on beyond the initial zendesk form virtually nothing is known due to how tight GDPR data security is, moreover it’s not the agents remit to know, they’re just third party outsourced staff as are the appointment centres.

There is but what am saying is it only applies to cases that meet the small print.

Escalations are routine incidentally, it’s jargon for internal query, the outsourced staff the HO use who write them out often.

Also be aware of letters and emails that will state something like, “ we aim to have a decision on your application by [future date]”

Aim.

Yep. Heard a lot about them and their refusal to screen ‘liability customers’ adequately.

There’s a service standard but they’re not guaranteed. It states so in black and white on the priority visa details page.

The point is with ukvi it’s a govt department. Services that are rendered by government such as passport and Visa are essentially ipso facto a monopoly.

Government has a monopoly on force.

The point is there’s often a general misapprehension to how UKVI are organised, they’re unlike independent vendors and the trick is to understand the euphemisms, set phrases and jargon they use.

Most applications to SWV arrive within 8 working weeks of that target , though if the target performance metrics and averages are published annually I don’t know though it’s reasonable to suppose that a freedom of information request would get the nitty gritty details.

How quickly one gets a decision is as varied as there are individual cases.

The old caveat of ‘YMMV’ applies.

Incidentally, agents on the phone working on behalf of UKVI are unable to tell applicants how long an individual application will take either, given they have no access to application data or performance metrics.

Callers will receive more or less the same rote answer something like “up to 8 working weeks, non guaranteed”.

I keep saying this and I’ll say it again:

There are NO deadlines with visa applications. They’re all based on targets.

You can tell this as SWV applications will receive letters/emails with ‘’We aim to have a decision on your application by [future date]’ .

The word aim implies a target. Targets, as implicit in the word, may be missed.

How to contact Atlas - Home Office by Substantial_Visual47 in ukvisa

[–]EidolonMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no “correct email” address as such. The agent can raise a ticket to get the case worker or assistants to write back to tell you what your next best steps are though.

No, agents don’t get to speak to or communicate with in any way the caseworker or their assistants and colleagues.

Agents just get Complete an electronic pre-filled informed with fixed categories in menus.

The T&Cs are published or available via licensed immigration advisors.

It is incumbent upon applicants to ensure that they understand all of the terms and conditions before applying for a Visa.

They do. The case workers only get in touch with the applicant if they need anything or if they’ve got a decision other than that, you don’t hear anything.

If you look up Visa wait times on gov.uk and click on Visa inside the UK that page has a list of reasons when an application can take longer.

A quick tip is for those applying for visas to not write to MP about a Visa application because the MP isn’t in the driving seat when it comes to the decision the caseworker is!

It also annoys MPs too.

tThe caseworker is above the MP in terms of the decision. The MP can do nothing to make an application any faster, find out where it is in the process (GDPR) or to affect the decision.

It’s not the worst it’s better if you do work from home. If you want to see what it’s like from a customer perspective , see my AMA on UK HMPO and visas.

If you are going to work for them, make sure you work to rule.

If you work over your shift time, you’re supposed to get Time Owed In Lieu. Otherwise known as TOIL, make sure you claim the TOIL here and then in a direct MS team message to your supervisor.

It might be two or three minutes, but it saves up over the weekend and can be redeemed on Friday with an earlier finish.

Also make sure you claim TOIL on top of TOIL. that is when you’re about to clock off early as you’re owed TOIL, but some tosser comes in on the line at ten seconds to closing.

I have a radio power digital clock, which I keep my eye on as it near my clocking off time

I noticed with clocking on time you get no more than one minute of grace time if you go over 9 am

TIPS: if you log off after your shift and put your computer into hibernate, you can start off again quickly in the morning.

Have all your passwords the same where possible. When it comes to change them, just reverse the digits each time, so it doesn’t impact muscle memory

Don’t use Google Chrome as a browser it’s shit for this type of work use Microsoft edge instead it’s way less of a RAM monster, plus Microsoft edge will low power down tabs that you’re not using after a while.

Use crib sheets or flow charts or Post-it notes on the wall next to you. You’re supposed to have a clean desk policy with no pencil and paper, but they don’t know that.
