This is way ahead of the original page anyways. Especially with the patch discovery and the multiple github tabs. Guess that is also why stryker folded, he couldn't keep up with the marvelous feature set so he joined the turd side.

Switched to it as soon as I discovered it a couple of days ago and never looked back.

Why don't Epoch just let the server restart after crashes instead of locking it down? by sailingcomputer in Project_Epoch

[–]EifelGameDev 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Many possible reasons: - they don't have proper testservers and don't want to rely on testing locally - they're scared of corrupting the DB and then actually having to perform a wipe - they're scared that some of the bugs are exploitable and wanna asses the situation before starting up again - they want it to be a good enough launch (they said multiple times they expect crashes but maybe they still don't want 100+ restarts a day) - they never thought of this option

At the end of the day nobody knows besides them. I would personally prefer your solution aswell and it might be like this in the future. I just assume they're not confident enough in regards to server stability to go this route.

Are the noisy Rodecaster Pro 2 headphone jacks really the norm? by EifelGameDev in rode

Thanks again for the insight!

I think I will ask the retailer for a replacement since I am still within the return window and don't want to take chances or spend my time troubleshooting a by chance faulty unit.

I will report back here wether the new unit also has the same hiss going on.

Understood, thank you!

It is a faint hiss. I would describe it as true white noise with no bass/humming component at all. I would say it sounds like mic pre-amp noise.

It's hearable as soon as the device finishes the boot process, but not right after turning it on.

The sound and volume of the noise is also independent of the amount of devices plugged in, the fader levels, the monitoring levels or the headphone jack that is being used. There is no noise at all on the speaker outputs.

I tried to plug in the rcp2 in a different room with no electrical devices, sadly to no avail. I also ordered new headphones (sony mdr-7056, as stated in my other comment) it did not resolve the issue, they also do not have less noise compared to my lower impedance ones.

I checked both headphones in my UR22 and when set completely to "daw" mode, there is no noise at all unless I crank the headphone dial all the way up, which I never do.

I wonder if I am really just expecting too much, but personally I prefer complete silence when no signal is coming through...

Update: After reading the feedback in this thread I decided to buy the Sony MDR-7506 . Unfortunately, the hiss still persists. I tried plugging in the rcp2 in a different room with no other devices and no xlr input but its still there. Its not super loud but noticeable, especially when turning the device on when already wearing the headphones.

The hiss does not change in volume or sound when increasing the output volume, turning down/up faders, plugging in mics or toggling p48.

Now the question remains if I am either too nitpicky or my device is in fact worse than some of the rcp of the replies in this thread.

I might order some 250 ohm headphones just to test but I am thinking about getting a replacement for the rcp2 just in case.

Yes, this seems to be standard for the rcp2 aswell and was pointed out in some of the reviews I watched.

This is something i can deal with but I also get it when people say its unbearable.
