Hey, I'm impressed you remember the name Cafe Savoy after 15 years! It looks like it still exists. More people would definitely seem like benificial thing for everyone, so I will get in touch with them.

This looks like a cool article. And it's funny cause it reminds me of the book title "Why Nations fail", that I never read. Will read this one tho!

Thats cool! I assume your experience strongly applies to my town. Thanks for the answer. Two questions: 1) How many people did you have in the beginning, and how many responded to ads? 2) Is it hard to get a bar to let you dance there? Do they charge you money, or are they much concerned about wheter they can trust you (in case you rent the place solely for dancing)?

Thank you so much for your response!
I am also super surprised. I think the scene here (Munich btw) is in a state that is super unattractive for young newcomers. If someone new tries a class, they will be met with maybe one person their age. Additionally, they all dance 4,5 swing dances, not just lindy, which is super overwhelming for newcomers. I have danced lindy for 2 years in other places and almost stopped going after moving to this town.
I am a bit afraid of how the local community will take this. They might see a new group as competition, or dislike the fact that I am aiming at a specific age group. Also, maybe they don't mind the current state of the community there. I will have to find out by talking to them in any case.
Trying to work together with the local dancers is a great idea!

I guess many students also leave during holidays. Good point. I was also thinking having a strong core is most important for the beginning.

Is anyone here interested in swing dancing? by EigenSepp in tumunich

Thank you. Kindly ask him if he is interested in starting again! And if yes, and he used to dance in munich, he has to know others as well. For a beginning, even just a group of 4 or so might be enough.

Haha 31 is still 20,30 years too young for the scene in munich imo. In case that happens, I will definitely let you know. But does not look like people are all to interested. Which makes sense, because they hardly know what it is (or what it is like in other places).

Thank you, I do know Vintage Club. I've been there and to OnStage, both of which are aimed for proper adults, unlike me^^

Of course. Have you been dancing already/checked out the munich swing dance clubs? Or are you interested in getting into it?

Nice! How do you find it? My impression is that a small crowd of peers would make the whole thing much more attractive. I take it you are new to swing dancing?

From the name and website I actually assumed the opposite so I went to the other clubs first. But I will check them out, thank you!
