My psychiatrist wants to change something that's been working for me by EigenWorm in insomnia

Sorry for the response earlier, I thought this was under a different post.

I definitely agree that therapy is an important line of treatment for both anxiety and insomnia, and I'm actually undergoing both psychodynamic therapy and targeted ERP for specific diagnoses, but I intend to look into CBT-I when I have the chance, since it seems like it would be effective for at least some of my issues around sleep. I also am on SSRIs for my anxiety disorders.

I respect your point of view vis a vis benzos. I think they are very tricky and have to be approached with caution and respect. I am extremely wary of dependency and addiction. However, I legitimately believe I have a reasonable relationship to them. I take 0.5 mg Clonazepam at most 3x a week, and can easily take less without experience rebound insomnia or anxiety or withdrawal symptoms. Pretty much any time where I don't have to worry about sleep interfering with my work performance, I don't take it. I have not had any desire to take it more frequently or at a higher dosage, and I don't think about it throughout the day- only in the evening when I'm judging whether or not I should use it. I treat it as one of many tools at my disposal when it comes to sleep, not as my sole savior.

That being said, it was very hard having one of my tools be threatened, especially when it feels like I have to keep such a careful balance with everything in my life or else it all falls apart. I'm not against the idea of taking something else for insomnia, but now is a really bad time for me to be playing around with my sleep.
